Clayton Hotel Cardiff is a newly built hotel in the centre of Cardiff. It's three minutes' walk from Cardiff Central Station and is around an 8-minute stroll from Millennium Stadium, the home of the Wales national rugby union team, and Castle Quarter, the city's principal shopping district.
The modern hotel is visually striking from outside with its curved design incorporating floor-to-ceiling windows, which are featured in most rooms. The reception is decorated in greys, creams and dark purples, with plush sofas and armchairs, and features displays of contemporary art.
The hotel's Stir Restaurant serves seasonal dishes such as Barbary duck confit with caramelised apples and rosemary potatoes, and has striking panoramic views over Cardiff city centre. Its accompanying bar serves lighter dishes along with a range of cocktails. The hotel doesn't have on-site parking, but offers discounted rates at nearby NCP car parks.
All rooms have free Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities and 24-hour room service. Some of the rooms face out towards the train station or nearby bars, meaning they can sometimes be a little noisy -- but all have great views of the city, especially from some of the top rooms, which also have far-reaching views of the bay and surrounding countryside. There are also a handful of interconnecting rooms available on request for family use.
