The Sercotel Suites Viena is an all-suite hotel near the Plaza de España and its Metro -- it's close enough to the city centre to stroll in (Plaza Mayor is a 20-minute walk away), but just far enough away to be able to relax in the evening and enjoy the local bars and restaurants.
A four minutes' walk from the hotel, Plaza de España is located between two of the city's most prominent skyscrapers, and has a monument to the Spanish playwright and novelist Cervantes. The hotel is also near (12 minutes' walk) the art- and antique-stuffed 18th-century Palacio Reale de Madrid (Royal Palace), and is a 7-minute walk from the Templo de Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple (circa 200BC) that was donated to Spain and reconstructed during the 1970s – now set in lush parkland, it's a great place to watch the sunset from.
The hotel is modern, with a glass-fronted lobby and a minimalist monochrome interior design. Breakfast includes a continental buffet of cheeses, breads and pastries, as well as a hot selection -- all prepared by local bakery and caterers Viena Capellanes. The hotel also has a private gym, parking, public computers and a laundry service for guests (for an extra cost). In addition, the tickets to shows and attractions, guided excursions and bike hire can be arranged via the reception.
All 57 suites are air-conditioned, and come with a mini bar, free Wi-Fi and a small kitchenette with a microwave – leave a note for the housekeeper if additional crockery or utensils are required. Some of the lower rooms at the front of the hotel look down on Calle Juan Álvarez, which can be a little loud at times with traffic and general street noise, but that's mainly during the day. You can upgrade to a Junior Suite with Terrace, which has double patio doors and an outdoor seating area that is almost as big as the room itself.
