The 4-star Macdonald Burlington Hotel is in the heart of the city centre, a 7-minute walk from Birmingham New Street train station. Housed in a Victorian building, the hotel overlooks the Burlington Arcade and is reputed to have been Winston Churchill's favourite hotel in the city. Uniquely, the independent hotel is on top of a natural spring, and provides its own spring water to guests.
The property is in central Birmingham, less than half a mile from the Bullring Shopping Centre and a 6-minute walk from Victoria Square. New Street, home to an array of shops, bars and restaurants, is right near the hotel. The O2 Academy is a 13-minute walk (or seven minutes' drive). Cadbury's World is a 20-minute drive away, or 30 minutes by public transport.
Dining and drinking options at the hotel include The Scottish Steak Club, a high-quality steak restaurant that favours local and organic ingredients, and the Burlington Bar, where you can enjoy afternoon tea or a cocktail in the evening. The Burlington Lounge, in the hotel's grand reception, offers teas, coffees and a lounge bar menu.
Each of the 114 Classic, Executive, and Accessible Rooms and Suites has its own unique and period features, and come with comfortable beds and pillows -- the hotel recently won a Fluffies award for Best Hotel Pillows. All rooms feature flat-screen televisions, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and free spring water and Wi-Fi. 24-hour room service is available.
