Hôtel de la Paix Montparnasse is a cosy boutique property in a quiet Parisian neighbourhood that is within walking distance of the centre of the city, yet retains its own distinctive character. The hotel is well serviced by public transport, with the nearest Metro station, Raspail, a 2-minute walk away. Gare Montparnasse is a 12-minute walk from the hotel.
Hôtel de la Paix is in Montparnasse on the Left Bank, an area famous for its community of artists, writers and musicians in the 1920s and 1930s. Le Select, a café that was a regular haunt of Picasso and Hemingway, is a 4-minute walk away, and the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Paris Catacombs are both within 10 minutes' walk. The Montparnasse Tower, a 12-minute walk from the hotel, offers views equal to those from the Eiffel Tower, but with the benefit of much shorter queues.
Lonely Planet calls the hotel "chic" and notes that each room has "at least one vintage feature -- old pegs to hang coats on, an old-fashioned school desk, or wooden-slat house shutters recycled as a bed head". It also features a cosy bar and lounge with a period fireplace. Standard rooms are air conditioned and have free Wi-Fi; there are also self-catering 1- and 2-bedroom apartments.
As is usual in Paris, the rooms are on the small side, however all are soundproofed and individually decorated. Most rooms overlook Boulevard Raspail, while the Triple Confort rooms look out on to the hotel courtyard.
