Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel is perched on the Cornish cliffs, next to Polurrian Cove and its beach
  • Facilities include a cinema room, a leisure club and two swimming pools
  • Travelzoo members praise the hotel's "friendly staff", "spectacular" views and "excellent service"

Overview

Polurrian on the Lizard is set high on the Cornish cliffs, offering uninterrupted coastal views of Mount's Bay. This contemporary hotel is five minutes' walk from the sandy beach at Polurrian Cove, less than 15 minutes' drive from Lizard Point (the most southerly point on the UK mainland) and 40 minutes' drive from St Michael's Mount, which is number 39 on our list of 101 Things to do in Cornwall.

The hotel has panoramic sea views and 12 acres of mature landscaped gardens. The public areas were refurbished in 2018 and the leisure facilities -- which include a leisure club with a gym, a year-round indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool (open May-September), as well as spa treatment rooms (supplements apply) -- had a light refurbishment along with the rooms.

Children can head to the outdoor climbing frame or hunker down to watch a film in the cinema room. The hotel also offers a free baby-listening service in the evenings, so grown-ups can go for an evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

The stylish restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, with dishes that showcase the best local and seasonal produce. The rustic Mediterranean menu features many dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven. Child-friendly, gluten-free and vegan options are available.

The Vista Lounge provides a relaxing area to enjoy a tipple from the bar or a Cornish cream tea while taking in the impressive coastal views.

Deluxe Inland Facing Rooms can sleep up to two adults and two children under 12. Dogs can stay for an extra £15 each, per night (blankets and feeding bowls are provided). Wi-Fi is free.

We had a lovely time, the room was great and breakfast was good but wouldn't recommend staying in to have dinner. Dinner was not worth the money and was not enjoyable.

Lovely location, nice hotel and atmosphere. Very good breakfast but evening meal was disappointing due to the restaurant running out of meals offered on the menu. Drinks very pricey.

The hotel was nice as was our room but the evening meal was very disappointing. We had afternoon tea the next day which was exceptional - we couldn't eat it all so the cakes were packed in a box for us and we had them for supper at home

This was our first visit to the hotel and to Polurrian but we had visited va rious areas in Cornwall with the children many years ago. Although we were only at the hotel for one night, we managed to re-visit some of the places that we had gone to on previous occasions. The hotel is in a marvellous position with extensive views, and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Dinner was excellent, and we also enjoyed the breakfast with lovely sea views from our table next to the window. Thank you very much.
