Overview

Much about the Arenal Manoa Hotel & Hot Springs revolves around the land it sits on, especially the views -- 4 miles to the north rests the currently dormant Arenal Volcano of La Fortuna, one of Costa Rica's most iconic natural attractions. The outdoor pools and patio are all strategically placed to showcase the best views of the volcano's staggering peaks; you'll even get a view from guest-room beds.

The grounds are lush and lovely, and the rustic-meets-modern interiors create an escape-to-nature experience but with spacious and well-appointed rooms. Each of the one-story bungalows are spread out across the grounds, offering privacy, as well as sliding glass doors that open to porches. The property is big, so some rooms may require a shuttle to maneuver between buildings.

Natural hot springs feed one of the two swimming pools (the other is refreshingly cold), both with swim-up bars facing the volcano. The views from the open-air restaurant, which serves a menu of international and local cuisine, are just as spectacular.

The property also serves as a fully functioning dairy farm, where guests can tour the plantations on a complimentary farm tour, milk and feed the cows, and explore the surrounding forest. The quaint town of La Fortuna is a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and Arenal Volcano National Park, full of hiking trails and magma fields, is about 20 minutes away.

Everything! The resort was a beautifully maintained, lush, open and large property with a waterfall, lagoon, staggering amount natural beauty. The rooms were very private, large and well kept. Hotel staff was friendly, gracious and very accommodating. The breakfast included typical Costa Rican food as well as custom made omelets. There is a large pool and hot tub as well as thermal pools with lusciously hot water naturally heated by the volcanic river. Plus, three happy hours with delious cocktails.
