Sophistication meets comfort at the Phoenix Park Hotel, a historic boutique with an exceptional location near Union Station and the U.S. Capitol. The hotel recently received a multimillion-dollar renovation which refreshed and updated all 149 guest rooms and public spaces.

Cozy guest rooms feature contemporary styling, plush pillowtop bedding, 43-inch flat-panel TVs, USB charge points and fully renovated bathrooms with updated tubs and vanities. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Guests who upgrade to a suite can take advantage of additional amenities like separate studies, gas fireplaces, terraces or views of the Capitol Building.

The Dubliner Pub and Restaurant features Irish/American cuisine like fish and chips or Irish beef stew accompanied by pints of Guinness and nightly live entertainment. Few Irish pubs can boast this kind of famous clientele -- former President Obama stopped in for a pint on St. Patrick’s Day in 2012.

Set in the Capitol Hill district, the hotel is neighbors with many of the city’s most famous sights. The Library of Congress and the Supreme Court are a short stroll away, with the National Mall just beyond.

From the press:
  • "This spot has been home away from home for visiting Irish politicians … so when they lay on the Emerald Isle kitsch, it’s genuine" -- Lonely Planet
  • "The Phoenix Park's location, across from Union Station and 2 blocks from the Capitol, makes it a favorite of business folks in town to meet with government officials" -- Frommer's

Very clean. Great location. Loved having the Dubliner in the lobby. Steps from Union station and the capitol, plus the bikeshare kiosk. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during my first visit to DC!

Location was superior bcs we arrived by train at Union Station. Dubliner Restaurant in-house is friendly and good. Front desk staff always helpful. Quality of renovation -- lovely materials, very well done.
Other Comments
Room was small but very well sound-proofed, even though we were overlooking the street. King sized bed a bit soft for our taste, but quite OK. There are many, many transportation options in the Union Station area, we did not need a car.

The valet parking ($55) was reduced to $35 for us. Dubliners restaurant was authentic Shepherds Pie ever, and the Rack of lamb was perfectly cooked.

Traffic noisy from emergency vehicles was a problem but they gave you ear plugs. Funny how you get used to it. Near the Capitol and Union Station.
