Overview
Founded by twin Dutch sisters who spotted the property on a windsurfing trip, the Boardwalk Small Hotel Aruba is intended to be the antithesis of the high-rise hustle and bustle typical to this section of Aruba.
The hotel is made up of 14 casita-style rooms, each with tropically hued decor, full kitchens and private shaded patios with hammocks and grills. Aspiring grill masters can order the barbecue package complete with charcoal, matches and a bundle of local herbs and spices to create their own private feast.
Although there is a small plunge pool, it’s hardly an area for sunbathing the day away. A better choice would be the sugar white sands of popular Palm Beach, a three-minute walk across the street from the hotel. Hotel guests can also access the nearby lively Moomba Beach Club, voted one of the “World’s Best Beach Bars” by CNN.
For those looking to completely unplug in a private setting, the Boardwalk fits the bill. But if it’s full-service pampering in the form of food, beachfront or spa services, one of the area’s high-rises might be a better choice.
