Built in 1971, the Amelia Island Plantation embraces its natural setting utilizing eco-friendly construction methods to protect the surrounding area and the animals that call the island home. The oceanfront property feels secluded with over 1,300 acres of saltwater marshes, 100-year-old oak trees and beaches but is just a 20-minute drive from Fernandina Historic District’s boutique shops and restaurants. The resort is three miles from Amelia State Park and nine miles from the Amelia Island Museum of History.
Villas with one-, two- and three-bedrooms are available, all offering views of the water or fairways. With nearly 2,000 square feet in the largest units, families and groups traveling together can spread out in comfort with plenty of privacy for all. The townhouse-style floor plans include fully-equipped kitchens, living rooms, multiple bathrooms, and washers and dryers. A daily resort fee covers Wi-Fi, parking and access to both the fitness center and private beach. Split among complexes near the clay tennis courts, golf courses or the ocean, most guests are just a short walk from one of the resort’s 20 pools.
In addition to the pools, the resort features three golf courses, a kids’ club, a spa, 23 tennis courts, fishing and sailing charters, kayaking and horseback riding, biking trails, Segway tours and 3.5 miles of beach. A complimentary shuttle transports guests around the sprawling resort. The property has eight restaurants with options ranging from a breakfast buffet on an outdoor terrace, a posh lounge serving cocktails and small bites overlooking the infinity pool, a family-friendly aviation-themed restaurant, surfer-inspired pizzeria and an upscale seafood restaurant serving the catch of the day with a long list of wine pairings.
