There is plenty of dining and shopping near the DoubleTree Portland, set right across the street from the Maine Mall (New England's largest). A few restaurants even share the parking lot with the hotel so guests don't have to venture very far for a bite to eat.
Drive less than 15 minues east to reach most of Portland's main attractions (the Portland Museum of Art, the Historic Arts District and the State Theater) as well as downtown's thriving microwbrew and restaurant scene. Once there, wander cobblestone streets and century-old brick buildings in the Old Port along the waterfront. The gorgeous coastline at Cape Elizabeth -- dotted with iconic lighthouses and rocky shores -- is 20 minutes from the hotel.
The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to closer local spots (within a mile of the hotel) and to the airport, which is five minutes away. When you're back at the hotel, there's a business center and in-room Wi-Fi for last-minute work, and an indoor pool enclosed by a contemporary glass ceiling and windows. Guests can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner at the restaurant on site, the Blue Wave Grill, open until 11 p.m. for some late-night snacks.
