Those seeking to take in all of the action of the Sunset Strip need look no further than The Standard Hollywood. The hotel's amped-up party vibe comes across upon entering the lobby, which has a DJ spinning, low-slung lounge chairs and eye-popping artwork.
The sparse guest rooms have a '70s college dorm feel with playful touches like silver beanbag chairs and Andy Warhol print drapes. Despite their retro design, they come with updated amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, organic bath products and Egyptian cotton sheets. Floor-to-ceiling windows offers views of Hollywood and surrounding areas.
Hipsters flock to the pool area, which is decked with blue astro turf and has ping-pong tables. On weekends when DJs spin, it can get packed, but it offers prime people-watching.
Fuel up before or after a night out on the Sunset Strip at the aptly named 24/7 Restaurant, which serves around-the-clock comfort fare. The hip eyewear store Warby Parker is also on site.
Just outside the hotel doors lies a host of clubs and lounges. The iconic House of Blues is about a four-minute walk away. Or take a nine-minute stroll to the upscale Sunset Plaza shops and restaurants.
