Just 20 minutes outside Virginia Beach, the Founders Inn and Spa offers a serene escape from the bustling beach crowds.

This sprawling 26-acre property on the edge of the Regent College campus oozes Southern charm with old-world décor, rocking chairs dotting communal porches and meticulously manicured English gardens throughout the grounds.

Quaint colonial guest rooms are housed in three Tudor-style lodges, all connected by covered brick walkways overlooking the lush, green landscaping. The York River Lodge offers a special touch for four-legged guests, offering pet-friendly guest rooms within easy proximity to the spacious on-site dog park.

Kids will love the outdoor playground and massive outdoor pool, fit with a long, winding waterslide for a bit of extra fun. Guests preferring sand can skip the drama of beach parking and take the complimentary shuttle, which runs frequently from the inn throughout the summer season.

Before hopping on the beach shuttle, spend mornings playing tennis at the on-site courts, break a sweat at the fitness center or opt for a nice stroll around the gardens. Serenity carries straight from the gardens into the spa, where guests can choose from a full-service menu for a little holiday pampering.
