Overview

Built by oil baron William Skirvin more than a century ago, the AAA 4-Diamond Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City is as grand as it is historic. It's still a modern and vibrant spot, though -- a $4 million renovation in 2016 updated all rooms, restaurants and public spaces including the hotel's restaurant, the grand lobby and the Red Piano Lounge.

Guest rooms -- fully renovated with new furnishings -- are warm and contemporary, with dark wood furniture, floor-to-ceiling windows and padded headboards, while carpeted floors and plush duvets add a touch of comfort. As this is a historic building, rooms can be on the smaller side, but visitors can upgrade to a suite for more space and a separate sitting room. The Rotunda Suite has an oversized living area and an adjoining bedroom. The hotel also has a fitness center and indoor pool, plus charging stations for electric vehicles.

The Red Piano Lounge comes into its own after dark with live jazz Tuesday-Saturday along with signature martinis – and don’t miss the daily happy hour. The top-rated Park Avenue Grill offers Southern-inspired farm-to-table fare and an extensive brunch on Sundays. Of course, the rest of Oklahoma City is a growing food destination -- Travel + Leisure recently named it one of America's Best Barbecue Cities, while readers of Conde Nast Traveler called OKC the nation's best town for burgers

The hotel is centrally located in the city's downtown near within walking distance of tons of top attractions -- just down the street from the Cox Convention Center and Myriad Botanical Gardens, 15 minutes on foot from one of America's Coolest River Walks (Travel + Leisure) and the Bricktown entertainment area. The hotel is also perfectly located for concerts and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games at the Chesapeake Energy Arena as well as minor-league baseball games at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

From the press:
"Considered the city's most historic hotel" -- The Oklahoman
"This beautifully restored historic hotel offers elegant guestrooms along with modern amenities" -- Frommer's

The food was great! Happy hour is the way to go, otherwise the beers are expensive

It is an old hotel, but very neat, the rooms were big, but they ween't that clean. The wall vents were so dusty, I wish I had taken a picture so I could post. The other thing I didn't like, is I thought I booked and was charged for both nights from Travelzoo, but they charged my card for the second night?

The cost of the discount package was good. The hotel was nice but I did not go to the café or the bar but they looked nice. The room size was small but adequate. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. A free shuttle was available but we chose to walk to brick town.
