Just two hours from Manhattan’s concrete jungle is an outdoor paradise nestled into the Pocono Mountains. Skytop Lodge is a historic resort spread out over 5,500 acres of land boasting two lakes, three waterfalls and more than 30 miles of hiking trails. The lodge offers an indoor pool, game room, supervised and educational hikes for adults and children.

An ever-changing list of seasonal activities keeps this family-friendly resort at the top spot on Travel + Leisure’s Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the U.S. list, including arts and crafts, zip-lining and campfires with s’mores. During the summer months, grownups can play a round at the resort’s 18-hole championship course, or attend a yoga class while the kids spend days at Camp in the Clouds, the supervised kids club with hikes, trips to the playground, and in warmer months, swimming. In the Winter, the resort transforms into a winter wonderland and guests can partake in activities such as ice skating, snow tubing and skiing.

The sprawling resort offers diverse accommodations to meet the needs of all visitors. Stay in the Main Lodge -- the original hotel -- to be close to meals and activities. The Inn at Skytop is ideal for golfers looking to make an early tee time in warmer months or to enjoy outdoor winter activities. Those traveling with large groups should consider booking a Cottage Room for extra space and privacy.

In the spirit of the  historic resort’s tradition, men must wear jackets for dinner in the Windsor Dining Room on Friday-Saturday but can wear business-casual attire Sunday-Thursday.

Enjoyed Most: Location and atmosphere
Other Comments: If someone takes this deal, be sure to call ahead to make dinner reservations. We had to drive 12 miles off property to eat on a Saturday night. All three places were booked.

Enjoyed Most: Breakfasts - decorations - skeet - views from the roof
Other Comments: Our room at the Inn was large and nice, but very dark. Not enough lamps and lighting fixtures in the ceiling.

Enjoyed Most: Skiing and tobaggin
Other Comments: Dinner was disappointing. Server served appetizers (salad) over 10 min apart. One adult received their salad right before entree. Kids food was cold. We were told there would be chicken fingers for kids buffet but there were cold chicken patties. 2 of our daughters received the wrong drinks. We have enjoyed everything else.

Enjoyed Most: What an amazing experience. I spent a night at Skytop for my girlfriends and I one year anniversary. Living in NYC, I thought it would be nice to just get away and do something different. Skytop was visually gorgeous. The people were so friendly. We went hiking during the day, went to a very nice dinner, roasted marshmallows around the camp fire at night.... Did the tree top adventure on sunday morning. It was incredible. This place has so much to do and is so classy and romantic at the same time. Cant miss fellas. She's going to love it, I promise.
Other Comments: Call ahead...they are so friendly and genuinely excited to help you make your stay special. Let them know why you are coming and they will have suggestions on how to get the most out of it. Customer Service gets a A plus from me.

Joseph Oct 16, 2015 Branchburg, NJ, United States
Enjoyed Most: The activities (hiking, biking, etc.) and ambiance.
Other Comments: I would add that the food was good, but not exceptional, as one might expect from what is billed as "gourmet dining."
