This family-friendly complex in the quiet riverside town of St. Charles offers basic accommodations surrounded by great activities. For city dwellers, you can have a reasonably priced retreat away from downtown and be back in the city in less than an hour.

Sitting on 250 acres, the resort offers plenty to do, including two pools (indoor and outdoor), an 18-hole golf course, a comedy club, multiple restaurants, an ice cream parlor, tennis courts, bonfires and a playhouse with a full calendar of events. The on-site spa offers an extensive menu of services, including massage, body wraps, facials and even hair and makeup.

With a history spanning more than half a century, the 293-room resort still harbors hints of its beginnings as an early 20th-century dairy farm. The Harvest restaurant, for example, is located inside a barn crafted with wood from the original farm, and the booth seating within incorporates the farm’s old dairy stalls. Zanies Comedy Club next door is housed inside the farm’s original silo.

Outside the resort, guests will find outlet shopping, a riverboat casino and the shops, restaurants and bars of downtown St. Charles within easy driving distance from the resort.

Enjoyed Most: The golf course, the comedy club.
Other Comments: Bathrooms were very small, stains in tub. It is an old facility. Don't expect "resort style" rooms, it is more of a hotel. Decent value for the price, I would consider staying here again.

Enjoyed Most: Great location for the activities that we had planned. Convenient for a day trip to Navy Pier and Wrigley Field. The golf course was very nice also. Nice resort for the value (stayed in a tower room). Bathroom extremely small and dated, room was average but overall OK.

Enjoyed Most: The pool
Other Comments: The hotel was not up to standards. Falling apart air conditioning didn't work. Rooms smelled of mildew.

Enjoyed Most: The family oriented environment
Other Comments: We stayed in 1004, the view was great and gave us a great visual of all the Fourth of July firework displays.

Enjoyed Most: The indoor/outdoor pool is very nice. The staff is also very friendly. Room service dinner was very good (salmon/salad/grilled cheese). It's nice that they have kids activities (crafts, movies, etc.).
Other Comments: The room could have been cleaner. Pheasant Run is soooo close to being a really first class resort.

Enjoyed Most: There are a lot of different things to do, kid friendly atmosphere.
Other Comments: The only downfall was the parking, there never seems to be enough parking. My husband had to drive around in circles trying to fina a place to park.
Elvira Feb 25, 2014 Aurora, Illinois, United States
Enjoyed Most: Excellent customer service, Great breakfast
Other Comments: Older facility but well maintained. Staff exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. Loved the breakfast at Harvest.
anna Feb 17, 2014 Eureka, Missouri, United States
Enjoyed Most: Dinner at Harvest and swimming in the outdoor pool while the snow fell.
Other Comments: We spent our honeymoon at Pheasant Run Resort 39 yrs ago. It has grown a lot since then, but the room we stayed in does not appear to have been updated in a very long time. The carpet was worn, patched & buckling and the room had a mildly musty odor. Our toilet would run indefinitely unless we jiggled the handle and our TV changer didn't work properly. Finally, we were unable to access the hotel's internet service on our Android phones, which is a problem the hotel acknowledged being aware of. However, it was nice to have all of our needs met under one roof without having to go out.
