Colwall Park is a timber-framed hotel on the western side of the Malvern Hills, between Malvern and Ledbury.

The hotel is a walker's haven, with a footpath from the hotel garden leading directly into the Malvern Hills, "a soaring 9-mile-long range of volcanic hills that rise unexpectedly from the surrounding meadows" (Lonely Planet). It's also well located for exploring the 40-mile Black and White Village Trail, which takes in villages such as Weobley, Eardisland and Pembridge, notable for their black-and-white-painted half-timbered houses.

Eastnor Castle is five miles from the hotel and is open from Easter until the end of September. Worcester and Hereford are within 40 minutes' drive and Cheltenham is 50 minutes away.

The restaurant has oak panelling, wrought-iron chandeliers and a stone fireplace. The menu offers modern British cuisine, serving meat reared by an eighth-generation local farmer, Brixham seafood and homegrown herbs and salads. For lighter lunches and dinners, guests can eat in the bar, which also serves local ales.

Colwall Park has 22 bedrooms, each with tea- and coffee-making facilities, a TV, homemade biscuits and Malvern spring water

Enjoyed Most: The towels were good, the location was good and the receptionists were pleasant.
Other Comments: The beef meal was very tough and the waiter was young, foreign and very inexperienced with no idea what the bar had to offer. Three small slices of bread,, which we had to ask for to accompany the goats cheese starter, appeared on the final bill at £3. Croissants at breakfast were burnt black on the top on both days and the food generally was very disappointing considering the price. The bedrooms were generally of a low standard with wafer thin walls, dated furnishing and very small bath (shower) room. Reading was impossible due to lack of lighting. The White Company 'gift pack' as stated, was in fact, the only toiletries in the bathroom so had to be used for the stay.

Enjoyed Most: Location was perfect. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant and bar excellent. We had £25 per person to spend towards the evening meal - that didn't go far! We opted for the special of the day and were able to get main and dessert within this amount which we were pleased about.
Other Comments: Now linked to the Malvern Spa which we opted to spend a day at. It was pouring down with rain so it was a perfect day to go there.

Enjoyed Most: The area was great for walking. Lovely scenery.
Other Comments: I complained to the hotel Manager for the following issues. We had been put in a room on the top floor. This area was in serious need of an update. Even though we had been told it was an upgraded room! The room was very tired. Curtains did not close properly as they were too narrow, so let the light in. The rooms was not cleaned until very late on both days so made arriving back to the room after a long day awkward. In the bathroom extractor fan very dirty/dusty. Shower curtain very old and dirty. Hot water was dangerously hot. Shower rail very loose on the wall. This is now the second time that I have booked a hotel with Travelzoo that has been dissapointing. I would appreciate a call to discuss this. Mob: 07759 320091
