Just a stone's throw from the EU Commission building, Martin's Brussels EU hotel often welcomes ministers, dignitaries and European consuls. However, the hotel is also a great base for a city break as it is a 5-minute walk from Schuman Metro stop, making it easy to explore the rest of the Belgian capital -- the historic centre of the city is just four stops away at Gare Centrale.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, "the Belgian capital is having a moment in the spotlight as a ville créative, from Stromae's catchy music to the fashionable concept stores and design ateliers that are popping up across town," so this is a great time to visit. One of the most popular sights is the Grand-Place, "one of Europe's most beautiful squares" (Rough Guides), which is 20 minutes away by Metro. Other attractions include the Royal Museums for Fine Arts of Belgium (15 minutes by Metro) and the Cinquantenaire Museum (15 minutes' walk away), which has an "astonishingly rich collection" of art and historical artefacts (Lonely Planet).

The on-site Icones Lounge Bar & Restaurant serves both traditional Belgian and modern cuisine, and also has an outside garden. In addition, the hotel has a fitness club.

Charming Rooms are larger than the standard Cosy Rooms, and have a queen-size bed and a mini fridge. All rooms have free Wi-Fi. If travelling with family, you can request a connecting door to an adjacent room.

Enjoyed Most: Room excellent, hotel good, location at weekends nice but very quiet

Enjoyed Most: The bed which was large and very very comfortable, plus our room was equipped with a spa bath which was wonderful
Other Comments: There were a few niggling issues about the service at the hotel, which is located only a stones throw from the European Commission HQ and I assume is far less busy at weekends which may explain the issues. For example our room was booked for two guests, but there was tea (No coffee) provided for only one, the same with the towels, though both were provided after speaking to reception. At breakfast the orange and grapefruit juice dispensers were empty at 8.45, and were not refilled before we left our table. Overall though these were minor issues and the reception, housekeeping and bar staff were very helpful and friendly.

Enjoyed Most: The room was really nice, with the Jacuzzi bath an added bonus! Also, the breakfast was lovely.
Other Comments: It's a shame the hotel bar wasn't open - we weren't aware that there was a national holiday at the time we were going though.

Enjoyed Most: Comfortable and stylish hotel. Good location in a quiet area close to EU district and metro.
Other Comments: Great range of tasty foods for breakfast (cooked dishes, cold meats and cheeses, loads of different, pastries, fruits and cereals etc). Stylish décor in communal areas and good use of natural light. Really impressed with the eco scheme. Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed Most: The service was excellent. Lovely ladies at the Reception Desk, very welcoming and helpful. The bed was big and comfortable. It is exactly what you need after a long day of wandering around Brussels. Location-wise: The hotel is near the European District which is very convenient if you are on business but if you were in Brussels for pleasure, as I was, it only takes about 25-30 minutes walk to get to the "Grand Place". There is the metro nearby and it takes 10 minutes to the city centre.
