Why We Love This Hotel
- Good-value hotel near Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station, Berlin Zoo & the upmarket Kurfürstendamm avenue
- Rooms are large for Europe & have free Wi-Fi
- There’s an on-site restaurant serving local fare all day & the area has lots of other options on the doorstep
A 5-minute walk from Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn station and near Berlin Zoo, KaDeWe department store and Ku’damm avenue, the Artim Hotel is a good-value option for Berlin.
It's easy to get to the centre of town from here -- a 10-minute train ride takes you right to Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate. Locally, Berlin's largest park, Tiergarten, is a short walk and the German Museum of Technology and the New National Gallery are 30 minutes on foot.
The hotel serves a generous buffet breakfast, with croissants, bacon, eggs, hot dogs, meatballs, cake, fruit, cheese, bread and tea and coffee. Dinner is served here, too (think local classics such as schnitzel and chips), but there are a multitude of options on your doorstep, from French and German to Italian and Chinese. The nearby Schöneberg district is known for nightlife and gay bars.
There is a lift to reach the bedrooms on higher floors (although it can be slow) and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The rooms are simple and minimalist, but they feel roomy, with high ceilings and hardwood floors. There's no air conditioning but the windows open fully and the street outside is fairly quiet. Upgrade to a Deluxe Room for a king-size bed (twin beds are available on request).
