"An excellent place to see and be seen," says Fodor's, the 4-star theWit Chicago is an art-filled urban retreat operated by the DoubleTree by Hilton chain. Expect a boutique hotel ambiance as well as big brand comforts like warm cookies on arrival and plush customized bedding.
The hotel's central location in the Loop district -- known as a business and theater hub -- is unbeatable with shopping on Michigan Avenue just three blocks away. Walk to Millennium Park and The Art Institute of Chicago in ten minutes.
The highlight though has to be the 27th-floor ROOF lounge, where small plates are served against a backdrop of stunning Chicago city views. There's a retractable roof and fire pits, meaning it's a lively place to enjoy a drink all year round. At the street level, heartier American cuisine with a Midwest twist is served at the State and Lake Chicago Tavern. Sample menu items include short rib and Minnesota wild rice soup and Lake Superior whitefish.
The intimate Spa@theWit has four softly lit treatment rooms, a lounge area where tea and fresh fruit are provided and a men's and women's locker room with rejuvenating rain showers. There is also a 24-hour gym and a movie room that can be hired for private parties and events.
Rooms are airy and modern and some have huge floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing city views. Great for families, the suites come with a full kitchen and soaking tub.
