Surrounded by modern condos and new businesses in DC's rapidly developing NoMa neighborbood, the fresh and modern Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/US Capitol (built in 2011) is a fifteen-minute walk north of Union Station.

While The White House, monuments and museums are all about two miles away, the hotel is just a block from the NoMa-Gallaudet University metro station where the Red Line links visitors to top sites.

Good for families, the one-bedroom suites here come with a pull-out sofa for the kids and all rooms have a fridge, microwave and free Wi-Fi. A nice touch for those in town on business are the high-end ergonomic Herman Miller desk chairs, and a 24-hour business center with free printing.

Lined by a wall of windows overlooking the hotel's garden courtyard is an airy indoor pool and hot tub area. On the main level is the well-reviewed Todd Gray Watershed Restaurant that serves Southern-style seafood.  Failing that, grab a juicy burger at Five Guys (the famous DC-based burger chain), a five-minute walk away.

Enjoyed Most: The location was excellent, the hotel was generally clean, and the rate was reasonable.
Other Comments: Upon check-out, we checked our luggage at the front desk. As is customary with this process, we were provided a 'claim' stub from the tags affixed to our bags. Unfortunately when we returned that evening to pick up our bags, our smaller bags were present but our suitcase was missing. While the bellman expressed a remorse that appeared genuine, he also seemed unequipped to deal with the situation. He repeatedly 'looked again' in a small, quite empty room, as if the bag may pop out of the walls. While he searched, I had to personally seek the assistance of the manager on duty. The manager seemed just as puzzled, without the empathy. I do not recall him uttering anything which could be interpreted as an apology. I had to suggest next steps, and left my information when it was clear the search would be fruitless. I phoned the next day, and nobody on duty had any idea what I was asking about. In short, after 48 hours, we are still without our luggage or any meaningful assistance.

Enjoyed Most: It was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was in a good location.
Other Comments: The cost of car parking at $39 per night was excessive. One of our rooms had a partial wet carpet which was not rectified while we were there.

Enjoyed Most: The location was great so near to the metro stop. The staff at the hotel were so nice and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed Most: The staff! The front desk staff and the cleaning staff I spoke with were so nice! They were professional without being excessively formal, and relaxed yet helpful. I truly appreciated each one. They helped me get a cab, helped me with directions and more. One person was about to leave, he had his gear in hand but stopped to help me with something. I told him he could go and I would wait for the other staff person, but he finished my concern. I don't think this ought to be expected of anyone, but it was very kind. You really have an exceptional staff.
Other Comments: Our kids and the big people loved the cookie/biscuits you put out at 4:30 each day. We only were at the hotel once to try them, but they were a big hit. I wish you could have that delicious orange slices in water (to refill our bottles with) out regularly. For me personally, the decor is too modern, but I liked the color scheme.

Enjoyed Most: The location and clean street. Felt very safe walking around anytime of the day or night.
Sherry Jul 14, 2015 Riverside, CA, United States
Enjoyed Most: I was greeted warmly and my room was ready.
Other Comments: As I mentioned to the staff there did appear to be some oversight in the room prep. Several cookies were on the bed and yogurt was under the bed.

Enjoyed Most: The location was awesome!

Enjoyed Most: Very convenient location and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Lovely accommodations.
Other Comments: We made frequent use of the Metro stop easily within walking distance. Plus there are several restaurants and a grocery store on the same block with the hotel and a CVS right across the street.
