Overview

The 4-star Majestic Hotel is a grand Victorian property in the spa town of Harrogate, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The hotel is within walking distance of the town centre.

The property is set in 12 acres of landscaped gardens and is only a mile from Harrogate train station. The Montpellier Quarter's boutiques, cafés and bars -- plus the famous Betty's Café Tea Room -- is nearby.

Facilities include the Orchid Beauty Rooms, which offer a wide range of spa and beauty treatments, and a health club with an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, a gym and a fitness studio. Guests can dine in the Majestic Restaurant, which serves a mixture of traditional and classic cuisine, and a full English breakfast buffet every morning. There is also the Regency Bar for after-dinner cocktails, and afternoon tea is served daily from 2-5pm.

Decoration in parts of the hotel.

Food from room service. Telephone in room was dead and had to go to reception to order room service. Also confusion trying to order room service as had not been asked to log a credit card with the hotel. This meant a trip tp the bar to order food which was refused and then to get reception to rectify the situation which they did. Ordered newspapers that did not arrive. Staff did not advise that you needed a code to get the car out of the car park which meant we had to reverse from the barrier and one of us had to go into the hotel to get code. The hotel is being renovated which was evident in our upgraded room. However once renovations are complete this would be an ideal hotel to stay.

How rude the resteraunt staff were. How they did not have thevroom we booked & so changed it to one on the fifth floor but the lift only went to the fourth and my partner has mobility problems. There was no information at breakfast re. What to do or where to go and no one to ask either. This is not a four star hotel! I have stayed in much better Premier Inns.

There was a bath but the water was nowhere near hot enough, it was just about alright for a shower.

Nice big rooms and a nice selection at breakfast.

Reception staff need to talk to guests, you come and go and no speaks to you. Charging for car parking i think was a bit much, they have a massive car park not a small one.

I chose this hotel for my partners birthday. I had been in the past in1991. If I had known it was undergoing a major refurbishment I would have booked elsewhere. The location is tremendous and so was the hotel .

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by an array of hgv vehicles everywhere. The hotel had rented out their car park for an exhibition, so subsequently there were no parking spaces at the hotel. When trying to book in, I can only describe as utter chaos, the hotel had also failed to mention that they was going through an exstensive refurb. This led to most of the hotel being closed off, this left a reception desk at the back entrance, which clearly could not cope with the influx of guests that were all arriving. Every other guest seemed to be complaining. The room it’s self was very spacious and seemed for the most part very clean. They must have very recently replaced the toilet seat, unfortunately they chose a very cheap plastic one, which in my opinion is not keeping with there usual opulent style. Breakfast the first morning was first rate, could not fault it. The second morning however, they said they had run out of butter, the hot food was not as good as the first morning.only gave us half a mug of latte as they said that they had run out of glasses.
