This 4-star country-house hotel is located on the site of an 11th-century church, 15 minutes' drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and around 20 minutes' drive from Warwick.

Steeped in history, the Elizabethan manor boasts 11 acres of grounds incorporating a 100-year-old topiary garden, a fountain and the church where William Shakespeare reportedly married Anne Hathaway.

Warwick Castle, Charlecote Park, Tudor World and Ragley Hall, considered one of England's finest Palladian mansions, are all less than a 20-minute drive away. The pretty town of Stratford-upon-Avon, where you'll find Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Mary Arden's Farm, is less than 10 minutes away by car.

Facilities at the hotel include a health club with a fully equipped gym, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room, plus tennis courts, a yoga hut and beauty rooms. Alternatively, guests can relax in the library, reputedly visited by Shakespeare himself.

The hotel offers the AA-Rosette Stuart Restaurant, with oak panelling and a fireplace, and The Great Hall with its minstrels' gallery, both situated in the old manor house. The AA praises the Stuart Restaurant for cooking that is "impressive" and "accomplished".

Rooms are split between the Manor House and the Cedar Barns, all with traditional décor and views of the hotel grounds. The AA says the "spacious bedrooms and suites" in a "country-house style" are "thoughtfully designed and well equipped". Dog-friendly rooms are available on request. Wi-Fi is free throughout.

The standard of up keep of the hotel was poor, our room hadn't been cleaned, only the beds had been changed. The overall up keep of the hotel needs some TLC, the pond outside is filthy and we overheard several people complaining about the food, which was okay once we had tasted it but nothing to write home about.

The location, all staff except Mark and the hotel generally. Shame it was all to no avail with the attitude over the issue of the noisy neighbours.
Other Comments
We had extremely noisy people in room 67. I complained to Mark in the morning and he stated that he would see what he could do. I was expecting compensation. Instead he tried to move us but failed to listen when I said we were only there one night. He then offered for us to stay that night on the same deal. How did he expect us to be able to just do this at such short notice. He was the dismissive of the whole situation and walked away with no further options offered or mention of compensation. He ruined what was a very nice break.
