Over more than a century, The Georgian Terrace Hotel has amassed an impressive guest list. The Beaux-Arts landmark opened its doors for Helen Keller, Walt Disney, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Charles Lindbergh. Nearly the entire cast of Gone with the Wind stayed here, and the movie's pre-premiere party was held here.

Guests entered a lobby framed in white marble columns and dripping with crystal chandeliers. Room renovations over the years brought in simple furnishings you'd expect at a contemporary hotel. If possible, it's worth booking a suite at this hotel. The price difference tends to be modest, and with it you gain as much as four times the space of the standard room, plus a living room and kitchen.

Back in the 1970s, one of the event halls was the Electric Ballroom concert venue, which hosted acts like Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith. Nowadays, top musical acts aren't that far away, as the hotel is right across the street from the landmark Fox Theatre. A MARTA stop is about a block away for heading downtown or further up to midtown.

  • "Atlanta‘s grand dame of historic hotels, where stars ranging from Tallulah Bankhead to Enrico Caruso have rested their heads" -- Gayot

Enjoyed Most: The hotel was beautiful and had a great location.
Other Comments: The service at reception was not great. I believe they were hired for their looks rather than their ability to provide good customer service. The floors needed a good vacuuming.

Enjoyed Most: The hotel is truly beautiful. The room was very spacious, with NO smell as other reviewers have mentioned. The beds were really comfortable, the hallway very quiet, and the self parking was easy. The hotel is very large and during peak times felt very crowded - especially in the elevator. The rooftop pool is decent, when it is not crowded. The Livingston restaurant was very good for breakfast. It is weird that there is only one mirror above the sink in the entire room; no full length or other option. Not ideal if you are dressing for an event.
Other Comments: Worth the money if you are in the area and find a discounted rate.

Enjoyed Most: The location and breakfast were excellent.
Other Comments: What we did not enjoy was the condition of the room. It was really worn and needed to be renovated. I got the impression that because we had a TravelZoo deal that we were given a room (1 bedroom suite) that was in less than expected condition. This is such a great hotel and to give customers such an inferior room was disappointing. On the questions below: Would I recommend this hotel: Yes - If they received a better room; No - If what we received was normal. Would we go back: Probably not.
