Despite an enviable location in central London a mere 10-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus, "the most immediate and lasting impression as a guest at Dukes is the silence", says the Daily Mail -- a sentiment (quietly) echoed by reviewers and guests alike.

Dukes is discreetly tucked away in a private courtyard in the exclusive neighborhood of St James's, the soft glow of its entrance beneath a billowing Union Jack.

It is rumoured Princess Diana found refuge from the limelight here, and it’s where James Bond author Ian Fleming did his cocktail research.

If you fancy a "shaken-not-stirred" experience of your own, be sure to pack your little black dress or lounge suit: formal attire is not out of place at Dukes Bar, where head barman Alessandro Palazzi dispenses bon mots and peerless martinis in equal measure. Also worth a visit is the Cognac and Cigar Garden, which is open year-round.

As you take the old-fashioned lift upstairs to one of Dukes's 90 rooms and suites, you'll discover "fresh and uncluttered" interiors (The Michelin Guide 2017) and complimentary Wi-Fi and bottled water.

On-site restaurant GBR (Great British Restaurant) by Nigel Mendham offers superb modern British cuisine. Work it off at the compact wellness suite on the lower level, complete with Technogym equipment, lockers, steam rooms and a beauty treatment room.

From the press:

  • "007's creator may no longer prop up the bar, but step inside this iconic Mayfair hotel, and you'll find a spoil-yourself treat -- in a central London location that can’t be beat" -- Cosmopolitan

  • "The basement restaurant offers a modern menu, with dishes that are original in look and elaborate in construction" -- The Michelin Guide 2017

  • "A Mayfair institution, it wears its boutique label with pride, and provides the sort of glamorous, cosseting luxury you might hope for in this part of town" -- The AA Restaurant Guide

  • "The most immediate and lasting impression as a guest at Dukes is the silence" --the Daily Mail

Staff are charming and professional. Hotel is ideally situated for the West End, theatres, museums, public transport etc. Good local amenities

Next visit we would request a lighter room. Although very comfortable, our room had little natural light and was rather small for 2 people with luggage. Otherwise cannot fault Dukes.

Dirty cups and glasses left in room and bin in bathroom not emptied. girl in cocktail bar was rude in the way she spoke to my wife. Never experienced being made to feel like we didn't belong IN ANY Hotel we've ever stayed in before....

We were given a twin room and asked to be moved, new room not as nice as first! Did not receive any welcome treats in room, that should have been included. Service at breakfast was very slow - some people were leaving without eating.

The locatîon is amazing - very central, but so secluded and quiet! The staff were fabulous - everyone was friendly, polite and could not do enough to make our stay perfect. The hotel was warm, inviting, beautifully decorated, with lovely flowers. We had a light lunch in the restaurant and it was excellent - as was breakfast. Would definitely go back!
