Patterned after the original property in Las Vegas, the Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa in Santa Rosa was hip in the 1950s, declared a Historic Landmark in the 1990s and is known today as an ideal family retreat and meeting place in the bay area. It’s had its share of famous past guests, including Jayne Mansfield, and life-size Peanuts characters greet guests while paying homage to local comic creator Charles Schulz.

Kick-start the morning with breakfast at Terrace Grille Restaurant, which also serves lunch and dinner. Classic entrees include prime rib French dip sandwiches, Caesar salad and burgers. Vegan and vegetarian menus are also available. After appetites are satisfied, many nights of the week guests head to the dance floor where there’s a minimal fee to participate in salsa and West Coast swing dances, while a live band plays. During warmer months, lounge poolside or swim laps.

As the day draws to a close, guests retire to recently renovated rooms that provide a soothing ambiance with earth tones and large windows.

From the press:
  • “While the resort's whimsical neon bird sign has remained, the clientele has evolved, and now consists of vacationing families and business people looking for alternatives to the typical corporate hotel” -- Gayot
  • “If Don Draper from the hit show Mad Men popped into Santa Rosa, he'd probably park himself in this 1950s-style resort just beyond downtown” -- Fodor’s
  • “Offering the most modern amenities with the cheek and style of a 1950s resort” -- Touring and Tasting

Enjoyed Most: Location is good, nice and clean room and great breakfast buffet.
Other Comments: The front door to get into the rooms makes a lot of noise and happen that our room is downstairs next to the front door,

Enjoyed Most: The hot tub, Friday evening wine/cheese, breakfast was excellent, the service - lovely people. Liz, who cleaned the room next door and presumably ours was sweet to my daughter when we'd see her in the hallway. It really is a beautiful, charming place.
Other Comments: The walls are very thin and we, along with our 3 year old, were woken up by noisy neighbors coming in at 2 am. I've never had to call a front desk to complain but ended up doing so since I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from and they were up and loud for a while, slamming doors, coming in and out.

Enjoyed Most: Upgraded to a larger rooms with sitting area (3 couples). Travelling with friends and could get together in one of the rooms for wine and chat.
Other Comments: Loved the retro vibe. Friendly and helpful staff.

Enjoyed Most: Great (included) breakfast with lots of choices, covered outdoor hot tub, pleasant grounds, located well for our needs. Appealing, mod interior decor- love the retro yet updated vibe! Appreciated the coupons that came with the deal for the Montgomery Village shopping center - haircuts and lunch :-). Love the Flamingo Tower!
Other Comments: We had hoped to pay for a roll-away in addition to the double-double deal as our kids are taller than me now, but were told it wasn't possible due to fire safety issues, despite having two exits to the fairly large room, with nobody having to step over a bed to get out. No microwave - who doesn't include microwaves? Charged $8/day for WiFi - really surprising, esp. since they seem to be catering to business travelers. Also, pool closed for winter - not mentioned on website or TravelZoo offer.

Enjoyed Most: Front-desk/Check-in staff was nice, friendly and efficient. And the room was clean.
Other Comments: The room was so-so. They provide an old-style hair dryer that is attached to the wall. No power whatsoever so it took a long time to dry my hair in the morning. The lobby seemed dingy, I saw cobwebs on the ceiling corner. Overall, the resort felt dated and tired. The complimentary continental breakfast -- even though it was "upgraded" to include hot food, selection was not good, items ran out and was not replenished.

Enjoyed Most: The room.
Other Comments: It would be nice if they posted on the advertisement that the pool is closed during the winter.
DEBORAH Jan 22, 2015 AMERICAN CANYON, CA, United States
Enjoyed Most: nice view from balconey and pretty good breakfast.
dan Jan 22, 2015 Brentwood, CA, United States
Enjoyed Most: I enjoyed the continental breakfast and the friendliness of the staff.
Other Comments: The reservations for my king room was not confirmed in their computers. As a result I paid an additional $50 to upgrade to a "suite" to avoid a room with double beds. Also, my "free wifi" turned out to be incorrect. In fact, I was charged $6.99 for the night for using wifii.
