Housed in an early 20th-century palazzo, this elegant 4-star hotel sits in the centre of Palermo, close to Piazza Politeama. This is the city’s cultural hub, with the Teatro Massimo -- Italy’s largest theatre -- and Teatro Politeamo both a short stroll away, and the hotel is surrounded by trattorias, cafés and historic buildings.
The best way to explore Palermo is on foot -- many streets are inaccessible by car and anyway, part of the fun is getting a bit lost. Try to wind up at Vucceri Market during your morning stroll to sample some delicious Sicilian specialties. If you’re visiting in the summer, the closest beach is at Mondello, 10km away. Further afield are the pretty seaside town of Cefalù (an hour away), the archaeological site of Agrigento (around two and a half hours’ drive away), and any number of pretty mountain villages in the island’s interior.
There’s no restaurant as such, but there’s a wide variety of trattorias and restaurants just minutes from the door. Breakfast is included in the price, with the option of having it delivered to your room if you’re feeling lazy. The hotel does have a cocktail lounge, though, an ideal spot for a pre or post-dinner drink.
The 18 rooms and one Junior Suite are light, airy and decorated in a sleek, modern style. Rooms come equipped with air conditioning, Sky TV and free Wi-Fi. Select rooms are pet friendly (contact the hotel in advance) and Superior Rooms also come with balconies.
