Refurbished in 2014, Hotel Hélios Opéra is a smart boutique hotel with free Wi-Fi and a great location in the city centre. You'll find it tucked away in a quiet side street behind the Palais Garnier -- the grand opera house immortalized in "The Phantom of the Opera" -- and a five-minute walk from the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps on the Grands Boulevards, two of the most popular department stores in Paris. Transport links are also excellent, with six Metro stations within five blocks.
Sights like the Louvre and the Palais Royal are within a 20-minute walk, and the celebrated opera house itself is open for tours when there are no performances. The Sacré-Coeur, which sits atop the hill in village-like Montmartre, is also only a half-hour walk away, or you can take Metro line 12 from Trinité - d'Estienne d'Orves around the corner to Abbesses. From here you can either climb the steps to the summit or hop aboard the funicular and enjoy the views.
Back at the hotel, a vast continental buffet is served every morning, and guests can help themselves to coffee from the Nespresso machine in the breakfast room. There's also a little paneled bar for a quick coffee or an aperitif. An adjoining lounge, flooded with light from the glass ceiling and courtyard, makes a nice spot to sit and plan the day.
The tasteful bedrooms are cozy and quiet -- all have carpeted floors and heavy drapes, and even the air conditioning is notably discreet. Classic Rooms are on the smaller side and have street or central courtyard views, while Superior Rooms are slightly larger and overlook the courtyard.
