New Park Manor is a family-friendly retreat right in the heart of the New Forest. Said to have been Charles II's favourite hunting lodge, the property is now a "tasteful" (The Daily Telegraph) boutique hotel, offering fine dining and a sumptuous spa.

The hotel's natural surroundings are great for outdoor activities -- from clay-pigeon shooting, archery, horse riding and climbing trees in the extensive grounds, to watersports and beach walks a short drive away.

The Bath House Spa has a 16-metre indoor pool, a steam room, a sauna, a hydrotherapy pool, a hot tub with views of the grounds, power jets, a foot spa and experience showers. The Daily Telegraph praises the spa as "one of the finest examples" of a luxury spa.

The Stag restaurant offers fine dining while the informal Vinery restaurant caters for all with child-friendly menus. If you're feeling virtuous, there's even a juice bar located in the spa.

The hotel's 25 bedrooms are kitted out with plush furnishings and some have original period features and parkland views. There's plenty of places to relax, including the cosy Rufus Lounge (with an open fire in winter months), a snug room and a cinema room, plus a crèche.

Looked a little tired in places. Didn't realise it was a hotel mainly run for children. Noisy children seemed to be everywhere, even up as late as 9pm. There was a baby in our next room, who woke up screaming two to three times each night, which disturbed us.

see other reply. we did 2 at 2 nights bookings. Suggestion is perhaps put all families with babes / toddlers into 1 wing so that those without who were hoping for a romantic break away from stress [work is poor atm] could have enjoyed themselves more

telephone response was poor - emailed info box and no reply - voicemail box full - no reply therefore did wonder if the hotel was still in business until it was rectified by a very polite gentleman who apologized. Think this should be looked at internally as not good for business. No response from the spa girls when I tried to book some treatments and then when we arrived there were no slots. All of that said we enjoyed our stay the sun shone and we sat outside and hogged the hot tub! Building work not to invasive but I think I could bring my husband next time to tidy the garden area in front of the decking area and it would have been nice to have had the cushions etc out ready on the lovely furniture - maybe summer came too early for the staff to do an outdoor tidy!

Apart from the problems above, it was fine.

Not very relaxing with so many children. Also, the building works were far worse than I thought from the pre warned also ment only 1 treatment room was in use, therefore making it impossible for everyone (including myself) to have any treatments!
