The palatial 5-star Dorint Park Hotel Bremen is set outside of the city centre in Burgerpark, which Fodors says is an "enviable location" -- the park is a sprawling 200-hectare space complete with a lake, river, landscaped gardens and numerous fountains.
The hotel is around 600 metres from Bremen’s main train station, and 8km from Bremen Airport. The city centre is a 20-minute walk or 5-minute taxi ride away -- its Markt is "one of the most remarkable [squares] in Northern Germany", says Lonely Planet. Bremen Cathedral stands in one corner with two 1200-year-old towers, next to the City Hall, which was erected in 1410.
The hotel has 175 rooms, each with free Wi-Fi, a minibar and a safe. Guests get free use of the hotel’s spa, which includes a heated outdoor pool, a whirlpool, saunas and steam rooms. There’s also a gym, which is spread across two floors.
The on-site Park Restaurant is an 80-seat venue which specialises in French-German cuisine, and has a wine cellar with more than 400 bottles to choose from. There’s also a bar with a traditional open fireplace and live piano music, as well as a smokers’ lounge with a walk-in humidor.
