Hilton Times Square

Why We Love It

  • In the absolute thick of it, on West 42nd Street along one of Times Square's most riotous and touristy blocks
  • Rooms are more than 20 stories up, nicely removed from the hubbub on the ground
  • A subway station at the corner services most of the mass transit lines
  • Rooms and lobby refreshed in a 2014 renovation

"I have stayed in Manhattan hundreds of times for both business and pleasure. This hotel was around the corner from a business event I attended. I was so thrilled with my choice of hotels when I checked in and my room was the nicest that I have ever experienced in NYC. I highly recommend it!!!!"

Times Square is a neon wonderland from tip to toe, but one of its brightest, most dazzling blocks is 42nd Street just west of 7th Avenue. Here, theme restaurants, theaters and Madame Tussaud's wax museum toss out their flashiest facades to bring in the passersby. Shouldering in among this lot is the small slice of an entrance to the Hilton Times Square.

Once inside, guests are lifted more than 20 floors above ground, extracting them from what can be an overwhelming din downstairs. The lobby and rooms went through a refurbishment in 2014, and now they have dark wood furnishings and leather accents.

The main focus, in both public and private spaces, is the view. From this high up it's easy to catch the skyline glittering in all directions, and rooms have large bay windows to sop up as much as possible. The windows angle open just a touch, to let in the soft roar of the city life below. The rooms are also relatively spacious, averaging around 330 square feet -- about 30% larger than the average abode.

While the immediate neighborhood is stuffed with Broadway shows, quieter areas are also close by. Just over to 9th Avenue runs the main street of Hell's Kitchen, full of cuisine from nearly all continents. Just downstairs from the hotel at the corner is one of the main subway stations, with trains that run down to Greenwich Village or up to the Upper West Side.

Other Comments: Note the check in is on the 14th floor so you have to take an elevator to essentially what is the first floor. It was a very classy hotel!
