A huge, deco presence in Midtown Manhattan, the Park Central hotel makes a few explicit promises with its name, luckily ones that are well delivered upon. Reverse the name and you get Central Park, and yes it's close, very close. Three blocks north of the hotel is where it begins, before unfurling over 50 blocks of meadows, ponds, playfields and ice skating rinks.

The hotel is central to other top sights too. Times Square is less than 10 blocks away, and you can see the neon radiating up Seventh Avenue, beckoning you to stroll south into the melee. On your way down, take a left turn a block to arrive at Rockefeller Center.

While the hotel's exterior dates from the '20s, the insides are all shiny and new.  Rooms are coated in cool, vaguely metallic gray tones that bespeak sophistication, not flash. Silvery leather headboards, walnut-and-chrome furnishings, and handsome plaid carpets feel almost gentlemanly. In the lobby, fresh flowers frame the reception desk, and a wall of louvered blinds in a herringbone pattern veils a capacious lounge and cafe.

Note: A resort fee of $27.21 per room/ per night (subject to tax) applies. Charges will be added to the bill on checkout.

Enjoyed Most: location, easy check in and check out.
Other Comments: I got upgraded to a suite! They didn't have many food options, there are a few pubs nearby and a small market in the lobby but they closed at 9pm the night of my stay.

Enjoyed Most: The lobby is an awesome work/play space. Rooms are large and quiet. The Central Park theme is carried out tastefully with beautiful artwork throughout the rooms and common space.
Other Comments: The coffee shop in the lobby opens early and makes a great iced coffee. Grab a coffee and head 2 blocks north for a stroll through Central Park.

Enjoyed Most: Location but not worth $500.+
Other Comments: No service/concierge rude and condescending...unheppful

Enjoyed Most: The location was good since it was near Central Park, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, 5th Avenue and Rockefeller Center.
Other Comments: The rooms were somewhat worn albeit remodeled and on the smaller side, we didn't have face cloths and enough soap in the bathrooms, the art on the bathroom walls was "creepy", the elevators were small and crowded at check out time so we had to carry our luggage downstairs, there was no restaurant in the hotel, and it was crowded. Also, the parking was $60 per night (I should have checked that before hand) and we had a facilities fee of $25/night/room which was fully disclosed but made you feel like they were making up for the cheap deal with fees.

Enjoyed Most: The cozy beds, beautiful lobby and lounge, and the wonderful, helpful staff made my trip wonderful at the Park Central Hotel. They even let me check in early and I was able to spend some time with family in my room before our adventures in the city.
Other Comments: The ventilation/heating system was loud and not accurate. The heating/ventilation system needs major upgrading. The soundproofing in the rooms was not so good and I could hear the people in the room next to me talking loudly, which made it hard for me to get to sleep.

Enjoyed Most: The location is great if you have business in midtown -- Times Square and Central Park are both very close for touristy things, and despite all that it was still pretty quiet. Rooms were nice, bathrooms were good, it was clean and the bed was plush. The car service saved us cash on the way to the airport too.
Other Comments: Coffee in room would have been the only thing I'd really have liked that we didn't have. Staff was nice to me but apparently fairly rude/standoffish/snobby when my wife arrived separately from me - I asked them to set aside a key for her but they had an issue delivering on that (when I was told it'd be no problem).

Enjoyed Most: They emailed me WAY too much. I got 3-4 emails before the stay about upgrades, etc. and then 2-3 after my stay (plus this one from Travelzoo).
Other Comments: Booked a prepay rate. Hotel was really inflexible with last minute need to change reservation. I would not stay there ever again because of this.

Enjoyed Most: First time in years that I've stayed there and it was MUCH better than the last time. Clean, upgraded, etc.

Enjoyed Most: Location
Other Comments: Room was given away despite giving the hotel a late check-in notice. Floors in hallways and rooms wee really dirty. Sheets in final room were scratchy and too short for the bed. Only had 2 tiny elevators with one working.
