Rooms & Rates
“One of downtown’s most highly regarded downtown boutique hotels” raves Frommer’s of Hotel Vintage, this stylish 4-star spot sits just beyond the southern edge of the trendy and revitalized Pearl District. The convenient location sets guests up for easy pedestrian exploring -- it’s a five-minute walk to famed Powell’s Books and the Pioneer Courthouse Square (an urban park and the city’s most visited site) and ten minutes to the Tom McCall Waterfront Park where bike trails, walking paths and picnic greens line the Willamette River.
From the street, the hotel’s stately red-brick façade -- which originated as the Imperial Hotel in 1984 -- gives little indication of what's inside: contemporary wine-themed interiors “as intoxicating as a glass of local Pinot Noir” (Gayot). The lobby is decked out in urban-style street art, doubling as a tasting room most evenings for a complimentary wine hour featuring local Willamette Valley wines to the tune of local Portland artists.
Rooms are focused on wine too; all 117 are dedicated to a local winery and come supplied with a hand selected bottle, distressed oak headboard and cork-lined walls. Splurge-worthy suites come with options like deep soaking tubs, two-story floor plans and angled sky-lit windows that flood rooms with light. The usual Kimpton-brand extras like in-room yoga mats, luxury bath products and complimentary bikes are included too.
While there is no shortage of trendy eateries in the blocks nearby, on-site restaurant Pazzo Ristorante earns rave reviews from the critics, serving “some of the most beautiful prepared, flavourful food downtown” (Fodor’s). The Willamette Valley extends south of Portland and is home to more than 200 wineries. Tours are offered through the hotel.
