Overview

Location is king at the InterContinental New Orleans. Travelers, convention-goers and business people alike prefer the InterContinental for its Central Business District address that's still a short walk to the French Quarter. The hotel’s St. Charles Street location is right on the main route of the city’s Mardi Gras parade, one of the biggest and most popular celebrations in the Big Easy.

The hotel itself is spacious and up to date after a $26 million renovation of the property in 2014. The new decor is a mash-up of Old World infused with modern-day tastes, where dark woods and richly patterned carpeting mesh with contemporary-style chairs and desks. Rooms also feature 42-inch flat-panel TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, rainfall showerheads and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. Festival-goers should know that many Balcony rooms have front-row parade viewing for Mardi Gras in February.

The hotel also has an outdoor rooftop pool on the 15th floor (one of the best in New Orleans, per Oyster.com) as well as a fitness center; guests can also arrange for private car service or even babysitting. The hotel's main restaurant, Trenasse, features Gulf Coast cuisine with plenty of fresh seafood and steaks; the Times-Picayune says the restaurant "dishes up comfort with confidence." For some more casual local flavor, try a wood-fired pizza or shrimp and grits at Pete’s Pub, which also serves a breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets.

Other major city attractions are also within a few minutes' walk from this hotel, and the St. Charles streetcar runs right in front of the hotel. The French Quarter's jazz clubs, restaurants and bars are a couple of blocks west; you can walk over to Bourbon Street in less than 10 minutes.

The hotel charged me for minibar charges without justification. I called the hotel because I noticed on my credit card the amount was more than origonal quote and was told that I was charged for minibar charges and a 50$ fee that stays on for 5-10 days just in case there was an incident. I can't believe hey charged me for Hingis I didn't use. Very disappointed and won't stay there again

The rooftop pools is nice but nobody really got in it bc of the bugs. Yes it's outside but maybe a net should be place above or around to provide less bugs in pool
