"The staff here are the most personable I have encountered in a long time. They asked what brought us to New Orleans and I told them that it was my step-mom's birthday and when we got back from dinner they had set up a bottle of wine, wine glasses, fruit, a cookie and a card with personal messages and signatures from the staff!"

Overview

Location is king at the InterContinental New Orleans. Travelers, convention-goers and business people alike prefer the InterContinental for its Central Business District address that's still a short walk to the French Quarter. The hotel’s St. Charles Street location is right on the main route of the city’s Mardi Gras parade, one of the biggest and most popular celebrations in the Big Easy.

The hotel itself is spacious and up to date after a $26 million renovation of the property in 2014. The new decor is a mash-up of Old World infused with modern-day tastes, where dark woods and richly patterned carpeting mesh with contemporary-style chairs and desks. Rooms also feature 42-inch flat-panel TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, rainfall showerheads and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. Festival-goers should know that many Balcony rooms have front-row parade viewing for Mardi Gras in February.

The hotel also has an outdoor rooftop pool on the 15th floor (one of the best in New Orleans, per Oyster.com) as well as a fitness center; guests can also arrange for private car service or even babysitting. The hotel's main restaurant, Trenasse, features Gulf Coast cuisine with plenty of fresh seafood and steaks; the Times-Picayune says the restaurant "dishes up comfort with confidence." For some more casual local flavor, try a wood-fired pizza or shrimp and grits at Pete’s Pub, which also serves a breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets.

Other major city attractions are also within a few minutes' walk from this hotel, and the St. Charles streetcar runs right in front of the hotel. The French Quarter's jazz clubs, restaurants and bars are a couple of blocks west; you can walk over to Bourbon Street in less than 10 minutes.

It looked amazing! Was looking forward to staying there, but 'Idram' in booking/billing/rooms certainly ruined this experience for me!

Billing/Booking- was scheduled to visit this location during Hurricane Harvey, hitting just 400 miles nearby. Flights were canceled, yet the location still chose to bill. Serious issues with this location WILL follow.

I have stayed in many different hotels over the years and the staff went above and beyond and were seemed genuinely interested in getting to know their guests. Kudos to the management for whatever they are doing to create such a personal environment:)

Location is great for access to downtown, river, arts district. Room size and view were excellent. Meals were delicious, once the bugs were worked out

rooms show excessive wear and tear. with worn rugs, noisy air conditioning. Had 2 separate issues in the restaurants, one with incorrect meal and the other with dirty utensils. these were rectified by the staff, but shouldn't have happened in the first place
