Why We Love This Hotel

  • The rooftop showcases views of Charlottetown Harbour
  • The Confederation Centre of the Arts is half a block away from the hotel
  • Kids 10 and under eat free from May-October
  • Parking and Wi-Fi are complimentary (limited parking during summer months)

Combining old-world charm with modern convenience, Rodd Charlottetown was built in 1931. The interior conveys an attention to historic details -- like the marble floors and vaulted ceiling in the lobby. Park your car for free in the lot and then head to the roof where views of Charlottetown Harbour are unparallelled. Pause here before heading to Chamber’s Restaurant for a meal, where kids 10 and under can eat free from May to October. Start the day with French toast and end with entrees like chicken Cordon Blue and Atlantic salmon Wellington.

Meet in the lounge for a drink before heading out to explore the charm of Prince Edward Island's historic capital.

During warmer months, attend a crab bake or spend time at the beach. From late June through August, the hotel is home to Feast Dinner Theatre, touted as “fun, fluffy musicals” by Fodor’s. The indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna are an inviting escape year-round.

As night approaches, relax in a guest room where a mini-fridge allows you to keep snacks and drinks on hand, while complimentary Wi-Fi access is ideal for staying in touch with friends and colleagues.

Poor security and safety during a 3-hour power failure from 10:30 PM to 1:30 PM. No one was outside directly you up the dark front stairs. Many tripped. The stairs to the first two floors had no emergency lighting in them and staff were not available to help you up. The room is comfortable but not for some a bit overweight. The toilet is less than 2 inches from the wall for instance. It's just an old hotel with old features. A delight I'm sure for some. Good, unordinary breakfast menu.

Bathrooms are small and parking at the hotel can be a problem especially if they have a booked event.

Traveled to Charlottetown for my wife's 60th birthday. The Rodd's historic ambiance, its friendly and professional staff, clean and comfortable rooms and downtown walkable location make it by far, our preferred place to stay in Charlottetown.

The Rodd Charlottetown is like stepping back to the grand hotels of yester-years but with all the modern amenities. The roof-top garden, the majestic front entrance and patio area, and the meticulously approach to maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel's green spaces, make it unmatched as a place to relax and stay. 10+++

Lack of parking was the biggest issue. Rooms were a little tired looking, but the location was second to none. Kids dined for free and the porch was amazing for a late night drink. It was affordable and would recommend it.
