The Titanic Hotel Liverpool is a Grade II-listed building situated in Liverpool's historic Stanley Dock. The 4-star hotel is set in a former warehouse -- where rum and tobacco were stored after being imported -- and opened after a £36 million renovation. Condé Nast Johansens praises it as a "top-class... trendy" hotel that's "full of laid-back ease and sophisticated finesse".

It is styled like a Manhattan loft but has retained many of the warehouse's original features, including exposed brickwork and vaulted ceilings. It has floor-to-ceiling iron windows and has a replica of the sunken liner's grand staircase.

Stanley's Bar & Grill has an open kitchen and offers an extensive à la carte menu serving traditional favourites -- think scotch eggs and sausage rolls, fish and chips, and steaks with triple-cooked chips. The Rum Bar, which features 60 varieties of rum, is described as "stylish" by The Daily Telegraph.

The spa is in the basement and has dramatic archways in the hydro-pool area. Facilities include a sanarium, a sauna and a steam room, and a spa that is featured in The Good Spa Guide. There is a 2-hour maximum stay in the termal suite.

There are 153 rooms in total. Some are split level, others have exposed-brick vaulted ceilings and all have earthy colour schemes fusing traditional and modern designs. Rooms have original windows and some have views of the Mersey Estuary, the vast brick Tobacco Warehouse across the dock or the city.

Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture in 2008, was featured in Rough Guides' top 10 places to visit in 2014. Local attractions include Echo Arena and the Albert Dock. The Cavern Club, where The Beatles made their name, is a 6-minute taxi ride from the hotel, and Liverpool Central is a 15-minute drive away.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout and other facilities include a conference, exhibition and banqueting centre.

Enjoyed Most: The room was a very good size and the restaurant was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast time so no issues here.
Other Comments: The n main item that disappointed us was the fact that the gym and pool spa area were not in use and had not been built as far as we were aware. One of the main reasons in booking this was due to the fact that these facilities were included. Bearing in mind that this voucher was booked some considerable weeks before using it was to say the least very disappointing. The hotel is also a good walk away from the main attractions - ok if you do not have any issues with walking.
