Occupying an entire oceanfront block of Avalon, New Jersey, The Icona Golden Inn was a Jersey Shore landmark for half a century before being purchased by the Icona Resorts brand in 2015. Reopened in summer of 2016 after a $15 million renovation, the hotel features all-new interiors with custom furnishings in classic Nantucket style. The resort now boasts two restaurants including the new Shimmers Bistro and the outdoor Sandbar Village (open seasonally).
Each room at the resort has a balcony, marble bathroom, minifridge, microwave and Keurig coffeemaker; Wi-Fi is free throughout. Accommodations are flooded with natural light and feature white walls, carpeting and sheer drapery. Against tufted, creamy leather headboards, marble tables and painted wood furnishings, pops of nautical navy suggest a seaside theme. Visitors can upgrade to studios with galley kitchens and bistro dining tables or suites that add the space and comfort of living rooms with sleeper sofas.
In addition to direct beach access, guests of the inn can use the property’s large heated outdoor pool, adult spa pool and the sundeck with cabanas, daybeds and umbrellas. Rain or shine during the summer season, the hotel’s activities directors keep guests of all ages entertained with arts and crafts, organized sports, bingo tournaments and face painting. A spa is slated to open in 2017.

The outdoor heated pool is open seasonally through October, weather permitting.
The Sanbar Village is open weekends in October, weather permitting. Shimmers Bistro is open daily from 11 am - 11 pm and serves food until 9 pm.
