Located between northwest Washington state and Vancouver Island, the San Juan Islands "abound with breathtaking rolling pastures, rocky shorelines and thickly forested ridges" (Fodor's). Warmer weather also means the return of touring, kayaking and whale-watching, all "things not to miss" according to Travel + Leisure.

From Orcas or Anacortes Islands, Travelzoo members can choose from a variety of activities and experiences with Outer Island Excursions, offering up to 35% savings. All tours last about three hours and pricing is per person:

$49 (reg. $80) ... Choice of one guided electric bike tour below (ages 12 and up), available through Oct. 30

  • Wine on the Westside: From Eastsound, take a ride through the island's agricultural lands on this tour, departing at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Cruise out to see OrcaSong Farm's alpacas, check out Maple Rock Farm — known for mixed seasonal produce — and visit Orcas Island Winery (open Thursdays-Sundays).
  • Bike Bay: Meet in the town of Olga; then, head to Moran State Park to see two waterfalls along the way before returning to Buck Bay Shellfish Farm. This tour is available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

$59 (reg. $79) ... One Point Doughty Kayak Trip (all ages), available through Oct. 31

  • Trips at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. depart from Orcas Island and feature the chance to glimpse harbor seals, eagles, various shore birds, porpoises and orcas. Take a break at Point Doughty State Park to explore its beach (only accessible by human-powered watercraft) before heading back.

$79 (reg. up to $119) ... One whale watching tour from Orcas Island or Anacortes (ages 3 and up), available through Oct. 31

  • Tours depart at 11 a.m., 1 and/or 3 p.m. to catch sightings of gray whales, orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions, otters, bald eagles and more. Groups no larger than 30 people get to listen to whales communicate and sing using on-board hydrophones while learning about the area's history and geology.
