Free – Shedd Aquarium September Entry for IL Residents
Residency sometimes has its privileges -- Illinoisans get nearly the full run of the aquarium.
Usually the Shedd Aquarium's "Illinois Resident Free Days" program is limited to a couple days each month, but now that the summer crush of crowds has passed, the aquarium is opening up its doors to Illinoisans for free throughout September.
Between Sept. 6-30, residents with valid ID have special access to all permanent exhibits, the Amphibians special exhibit and the seasonal Stingray Touch exhibit. You can even attend special Jazzin' at the Shedd events and Aquatic Presentation shows.
There's one small catch: You do have to reserve your tickets at least one day in advance, and there's a $3 transaction fee -- this helps keep no-shows to a minimum and makes sure as many residents as possible can visit the aquarium. Considering general admission is regularly $39.95 per adult, that's still a heck of a good deal.
Say hi to the penguins for us!
