When it first went up in the 1940s, the Lincoln Arms apartments offered its tenants a fine deco structure less than five minutes from the beach. Nowadays as a hotel, overnight guests get all that plus sleek modern interiors.
The beach is just one of the nearby draws. The city's main convention center is less than a block away, hosting exciting events like the boat show and Art Basel. Head three blocks south to land on Lincoln Road, which stretches west with alfresco dining spots and fun, flashy beach souvenir shops. Around the corner from the hotel along Collins Avenue are some of the most popular upscale nightlife spots on the beach.
At the end of the day, retreat back to the hotel, which maintained its generous apartment-style proportions. Choose a studio or one-bedroom suite -- both have a capacious sitting area and a full kitchen stocked with housewares and appliances. A common area on each floor stocks a library, and up on the roof is a verdant lawn speckled with lounge chairs and potted palms.
The hotel's main hangout spot is the astroturfed rooftop garden terrace with excellent skyline views. However, there is no on-site pool, gym, bar, breakfast service, or restaurant. There's complimentary Wi-Fi, and shuttle service to/from the airport is available.
