The facility was lovely, and we enjoyed our time there. It is in a beautiful area, and we would be more than happy to go back in the future (hopefully when the weather is better!).

A bit of a suggestion for future consideration: the communication of the front desk staff was a bit lacking when we arrived. Our assigned room was actually being used, and in general the staff seemed confused as to what rooms were available at that time.
Housekeeping were 'advertised' to come in the later afternoons, yet they did not come to refresh our room during our stay. Furthermore, when we asked the front desk about this, they seemed rather indifferent to the fact we weren't able to get service.
Finally, and most significantly, we were not informed when we arrived that the road leading back to the north part of the island was closed for construction every day from 10 AM to 2 PM. This greatly restricted what we could do during our stay. It would have been nice to be given this information when we arrived, so that we could have planned accordingly to get to the other side of the island before the daily closure.

Isolated and road construction made it even more isolated.

Early in the morning on the day we were to check out, we were struck with a huge infestation of flying ants. Without exaggeration many hundred overtook the kitchen floor.
We contacted the resort and the problem was witnessed by the maintenance person.
We left the resort prematurely and I advised both maintenance person and the man who was checking us out that we were disappointed and expected a proper response from the resort.
I also sent a message to the resort via email.
To date no response which I find unacceptable.

No mention that hotel has no A/C. (how do guests cope in middle of summer?) Room was not cleaned to 4 or 5 star standards. Bathroom fan did not work and no one came to inspect or fix despite calling about it for 2 days.
Staff at dining room and coffee shop were great, but housekeeping not so much.

The resort was exactly as we expected from the TravelZoo offer.
Off season the fine dining Aurora was not available. The menu in the Syrens was somewhat limited - and needed more vegetables in the mix. It was adequate. However there was something in the air there that triggered my allergies - I was blowing my nose all the time I was in there. Service was friendly and efficient even if we only saw each member once out of 4 meals there. South Pender does not have a lot of other eating places - and was cut off mid-day by urgent road repairs after a land slip.
The walk up to Greenburn Lake was a challenge but worthwhile. The lack of parking at the Enchanted Forest Nature Park meant we could not get there. Similarly the lack of access (those road works again) to the hike up Mount Norman was not feasible.

Check in was easy and quick. Check out not so much - a very nice young lady lacking essential system knowledge left to her own devices. The room we had was overlooking the spa - which we did not use but got all the steam from the cave under our balcony. Not at all sure why we were allocated to this room when all the others on that floor were empty. The ChargePoint EV charging was not working - and we did not really need the slow trickle overnight feed we could have used instead so not an issue.
