Why We Love It

  • The grounds are steeped in history -- the Manor House was erected in 1735
  • Villas start at 750 square feet
  • Splash in the indoor and outdoor pools
  • Plenty to do on site within the 256-acre plantation

Surrounded by the historic sites of Williamsburg, Virginia, the Historic Powhatan Resort offers the comforts of home on 256 lush acres, including the Manor House, which was originally built in 1735. The resort is the perfect home base to explore this colonial town featuring 18th-century English architecture.

Immerse yourself in the culture of the Revolutionary City and explore the government buildings, houses and gardens. While walking through the city, keep your eyes peeled for flags outside of the buildings to see what is open. When you aren’t busy touring the area, splash around in the indoor and outdoor swimming pools or take the kids to the playground. Guests can also find tennis courts and mini golf on site. The Historic Powhatan Bar & Grille is open daily for breakfast and dinner. Spread out in 750-1280 square feet of space in guest rooms featuring full kitchens.

The Historic Powhatan is a timeshare resort. Guests may be asked, though not required, to attend a timeshare presentation.

There was a food credit that came with the Travelzoo reservation, but the staff did not know how to credit it. I am still waiting for the credit.

Beautiful grounds, lots of space in our rooms, and great location.

The only negative is the hard sale on the timeshare. We were blindsided by that and had to refuse repeatedly to join a two hour sales presentation. We liked the place enough to return but wish they weren’t so aggressive in their sales.

It was quiet and the grounds arrangements were full of chatm

I would say the the bar and grill could be better with a larger and more diverse menu.

The value (with the $25 credit) is unparalleled. The room was very large with a balcony. There is an on-site restaurant as well as two pool, jacuzzi, etc. It is very family-friendly. There is almost no way to avoid the sales pitch after you book your room. They tell you to go pick up your welcome packet, which ends up in a 10-minute sales pitch. We actually DID avoid this by just walking out after checking in and a staff member came out the back door to try to bring us back in. We just said we weren't interested and it was fine.

Close to all the exhibits and parks. Looks nice when oyu first arrive and see the plantation home and grounds. The partial townhome was faded, shutters, front doors faded and all scratched up. chairs, sofa, coffee table stained and scratched. The linoleum in the kitchen was sticky and stained, couldn't walk on it without it sticking to your shoes. The pictures of the interior of this property have been altered to make it appear much nicer and newer than it actually is. Bad choice Travel Zoo

This is a time share property. Travel Zoo quests were given the oldest of the properties. Probably built in the late 80's early nineties. The furniture was old and beat up. The carpeting and linoleum was old and stained. The resort fees were very high for what we got. The pools were overcrowded with kids and the on site grill food was cold. The I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken was cold and cubed. I was not ediable. When leaving at check out, I was told that I got a free gift at the concierges desk. She took a call after I was there before it rand and stayed on the phone for 5 minutes, I then said excuse me can I have the free gift. She got angry and yelled "can't you see I'm busy?" I was a paying travelzoo guest? No one should be treated this way. This property is tired looking and although the time share portion is separate from the resort quests, I wish I never would have gone over to that side, only to be yelled at. Never again!

The resort is clean and offers many amenities. The cost is extremely good and the location is close to almost every venue we visited. Even though renovations are taking place, it did not hamper our enjoyment.

Pleasant all-around staff; Front Desk, Restaurant, Pool. They ask a few times if you'd be interested in buying into Diamond Resorts timeshare but respect your declining any offers.

Our 2BR unit had a full kitchen and beds were comfortable. TV was standard definition only; not high definition. Has a working fireplace but you have to supply your own wood. 7-11 sells it nearby. We plan on returning again as it's about 15 min from Busch Gardens.

Was able to stay in a lovely condo without having to buy a timeshare.

Would like to stay at this location again - as long as we are not hassled to buy a timeshare.

The Travelzoo price on the room. The room itself was nice just a little dated.
Other Comments
Was put off by the constant requests to listen to their 2 hour "presentation" for time share or whatever they're trying to sell. Didn't know when I booked this room that I was going to be subjected to that.

Nice spot - convenient. Nice having a licensed restaurant on site.
Other Comments
The "Time Share" vibe is never pleasant. Wish I had known. Just puts a downer on things.
