Why We Love This Hotel

  • This contemporary hotel opened in December, 2018, and is in the trendy RopeWalks district, a few minutes' walk from the Liverpool ONE shopping complex
  • Royal Albert Dock, home to Tate Liverpool, is around 15 minutes' walk away
  • Facilities include a lounge bar and a fitness room, and Mason's restaurant
  • Some of the rooms have terraces with city views

Rough Guides describes Liverpool as a "dynamic, exciting place" with a "fascinating social history", and Seel Street Hotel by EPIC offers upscale modern accommodation in an ideal spot from which to explore the city's attractions.

Set in the bohemian RopeWalks districts, the hotel opened in December, 2018, and occupies a contemporary building on a street lined with converted redbrick warehouses, a few minutes' walk from Liverpool ONE, a shopping and leisure complex with 170 stores.

Head to the river to see the Three Graces -- the Royal Liver Building, the Port of Liverpool Building and the Cunard Building -- and Royal Albert Dock, which is home to The Beatles Story, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool. The Cavern Club on Mathew Street, where the Beatles played their early concerts, is 10 minutes' walk away. Liverpool Football Club's Anfield stadium and Everton FC's Goodison Park, both open for tours, take about 15 minutes to reach by car.

Liverpool's two cathedrals are both less than 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. The Catholic cathedral is a crown-shaped space filled with coloured light, while the Anglican cathedral has the biggest nave in the UK and impressive views from its bell tower. St Luke's, a bombed-out church that's now a local landmark, is five minutes' walk from the hotel.

The hotel's guestrooms feature vintage and industrial-inspired furniture, and each has free Wi-Fi, a TV, a mini bar, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Higher-tariff rooms and suites add details such as designer toiletries, extra-large TVs and private terraces with city views.

Amenities include a fitness room (free to use) and Mason's All Day Kitchen & Bar which serves breakfast, cocktails, light bites and dinner from 6pm. Guests can add on breakfast for £10 per person on arrival.

Lovely modern hotel, decent size room, however the room was very dark. Trying to do hair and makeup is tricky and we were there in summer. Would be impossible in the winter months

Bright clean hotel, great location, friendly reception staff

Unfortunately we were given a disabled room, so not sure if we would return as not sure if the rooms contain a bath or shower if we were to come again

Well decorated hotel with a stylish feel. Only gripe was no air-con in rooms, which became very stuffy and the location meant having the window open was a noisy experience (with little air circulation resulting in any case).
Other Comments
Rooms could do with air-conditioning. Located on a busy street so with the window open you got street noise in the early hours when bars chucked out and then when street cleaners went by/bottle bins were emptied. Little air circulation with window open.

Reception staff friendly and helpful, offering us the option to book meals at a good rate. Hotel is ideally situated for all city attractions. The breakfast was very good. the restaurant had only been open for two weeks so they were still finding their feet but we had no problems at all. The only downside to the hotel is that there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms. We were given a fan for the room as it was hot weather.

I am still awaiting an explanation as to why my Room 120 was not cleaned on the Sunday. On arriving back at the hotel late on Sunday evening we found that the room had not been cleaned. I rang reception for fresh towels to tide us over until the next morning. The guy apologised on bringing the towels up to the room and told me to speak to reception the following morning in relation to some form of recompense. Next morning on checking out I told the receptionist of our problem but she did not seem to bothered about it apart from a minor 'sorry about that'. A proper explanation and some form of recompense would have been the very least surely. Very disappointed on what was otherwise a very enjoyable stay. Col Tel 07906148398
