"Everything was first class. It had been over 30 years since we had been to Vegas, so needless to say, a LOT has changed. But the Waldorf was in a perfect location because we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, and Ubers were readily available if we didn't want to walk. We also realized just what an oasis the Waldorf is when we visited some of the other locations in Vegas that were hotels/casinos and found them to be almost overwhelming - they were nice to visit but the Waldorf was calming and relaxing."

Overview

Opened in September 2018, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is one of only a handful of hotels on the Vegas Strip that has been awarded CAA 5-Diamond status. This property boasts rooms that are larger than the average NYC apartment and styled with chic, modern decor along with floor-to-ceiling windows. Each room is equipped with spa-inspired bathrooms that offer natural light, walk-in showers and large bathtubs.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa is 27,000 square feet and spans over two floors with a variety of services offered in the extensive spa menu including body and facial treatments, thermal experiences -- guests can take a jog down the Strip every Wednesday morning with the Waldorf Astoria Spa Team and enjoy coffee on the pool deck afterward. The hotel features two pools, two Whirlpool baths and a plunge pool located on the eighth-floor pool deck that overlooks the Strip.

After a day at the pool, enjoy afternoon tea at the Tea Lounge on the 23rd floor, which also offers a variety of small bites. For dinner, Twist by Pierre Gagnaire is the fancier option, engaging guests with a modern take on French cuisine with dishes like lobster fricassee and Hudson Valley foie gras. While the hotel is surrounded by nightlife options, guests looking to celebrate in room will be pleased to know that Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has taken the commitment to luxury one step further by offering a Moet & Chandon Champagne vending machine.

We loved the Waldorf Astoria. Peaceful and quiet. A non-smoking, non gambling casino. Worth the experience for luxurious treatment. All staff excellent customer service. Food amazing at Zen Kitchen especially sushi. Tea lounge was wonderful. Sad to see hotel will be converting to more American influences instead of keeping the original Japanese style when it was the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Las Vegas local - doing a staycation. The Waldorf was such a mellow retreat compared to other strip properties. We spent two days hanging out at the pool. Once with a cabana and once using the pool chairs. Both times were lovely, but we especially enjoyed the cabana retreat. I am past the age of the party pools and this one was just right for me.

The wait staff at the pool was not attentive, had to try and get their attention multiple times before we were served.

The service provided by the valet, in-room dining and the bar were all top-notch. Our room was also extremely large, but it had some strange angles. My favorite things about the suite were the bathtub and the bed (extremely comfortable). We also attended the afternoon tea on Saturday -- highly recommend having this experience -- but definitely wise to get a reservation. I wish I could give this resort a thumbs-up for certain things and a thumbs down for other things. See my additional comments for the negatives.

Check in for this hotel is 4 p.m. We arrived around 4:30 p.m. It was our anniversary and we were staycationing. I was feeling under the weather, but was hoping to change into my pajamas, watch some TV and order room service. We were given the unfortunate news that our room wouldn't be ready until 6:30 p.m., because the last guest had checked out late. The only alternate option offered was for us to check in to a 5th floor suite. I explained that I didn't pay $350+ per night for a suite on the 5th floor, so we waited and were offered no compensation. We waited at the bar near the lobby and our room actually didn't end up being ready until close to 7 p.m. (THREE HOURS later than check in). The suite was impressive, but the angle of the living room space was strange and the TV remote didn't work during the day when the curtains were open. It also seemed to get easily hot with its east-facing direction. I wanted to use the TV to check-out, but our bill was inaccurate. None of the Travelzoo extras for the deal: valet parking, waived resort fee or $100 resort credit had been removed. I had to have a discussion with the front desk person regarding all of these things and she still only removed them one at a time after I said multiple times what we were supposed to be receiving as part of the deal. Next year, we will go back to The Cosmopolitan for our anniversary, which is where we usually stay.
