Overview
Sahara Sunset Club offers polished self-catering accommodation a few minutes’ walk from the beach, and views of the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel occupies a modern Moorish-style complex of whitewashed buildings accessed via a terracotta-toned entrance, within a 10-minute walk of leafy Parque de la Paloma and wildlife at Selwo Marina.
Benalmádena’s buzzing centre, with its quirky marina, and Tivoli World amusement park are around 25 minutes’ walk away, while two of the Costa Del Sol’s most popular resorts, Torremolinos and Fuengirola, are within a 20-minute drive of the hotel. Málaga, “one of southern Europe’s centres for art” with “some great shops, and lively bars and restaurants” (Fodor’s) is 40 minutes’ drive away, while the “gritty, compelling” (Lonely Planet) city of Granada, home to the “astonishing” Alhambra palace complex, takes about 100 minutes to reach by car.
The Moorish accents of Sahara Sunset Club’s facade continue into its public spaces, which include a lounge with traditional wood furnishings and tiled floors, and an airy restaurant with arched windows and latticework. Guests can go for a dip in the outdoor pool, soak up the sun on the rooftop solarium with its hot tub, and play table tennis and pool. There’s a mini golf course, and an on-site spa housing an indoor pool, a sauna and a gym (fees may apply), and other amenities include a kids’ club and play area. A grocery shop and bike rentals are also available.
Set off winding tree-lined paths, the studios and 1- and 2-bedroom apartments are decorated in earth tones with wood furnishings, and open to balconies or patios. All come with kitchens and living space, as well as free Wi-Fi, TVs and DVD players. Apartments sleep up to six people and add living rooms with sofabeds.
