Why We Love This Hotel

  • Overlooks Bullock Lake and is set in 35 acres of woodland
  • A five-minute drive from Ganges, "the heart of the community" (Lonely Planet)
  • Received 100% positive feedback from previous Travelzoo guests who reviewed their stays
  • Spacious accommodations with a private balcony or patio, a full kitchen and a dining area

With three wineries, art galleries, shops and a 3,200-yard golf course, Salt Spring Island has something for everyone. These cottages are a five-minute drive from the island's main hub, Ganges — we visited the town and loved the quaint cafes, boutique shops and friendliness of the people.

All the units on the resort have views of Bullock Lake, as well as two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a fireplace. Travelzoo members who previously stayed here loved the spacious accommodations and "beautiful interiors."

Salt Spring Island's Saturday Market runs from either the first weekend in April or Easter weekend (whichever comes first) through the last Saturday in October. Peruse stalls selling from local food and art to international pottery and clothing.

The self-guided Salt Spring Island Studio Tour is a great way to see the island's many skilled artists and culinary treats. It's free and some studios offer demonstrations or workshop tours.

Ruckle Provincial Park — a 25-minute drive from the resort — is popular for hiking and wildlife viewing, and is "one of the most beautiful parks in the southern Gulf Islands" (British Columbia Magazine).

These cottages are not accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Additionally, while they have posts throughout the cabin asking us to save water, the toilets are not dual flush and both bathrooms have huge soaked tubs. I found this a bit off-putting. Nice quiet location and a lovely balcony for morning coffee!

Our accommodation exceeded our expectations. Very clean, well equipped, cozy, modern ... I knew from the moment I arrived that it would be hard to leave. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful sunny crisp day and felt like we were the only guests at the resort.

Spaciousness of rooms with plenty of windows, lots of toilets and TV's, layout, balcony plus patio, quietness, closeness to town, bathroom had shower and tub in master which were very large, fireplace, and most reasonable rates.

It’s a quiet location by the lake yet a short drive to Ganges.

Cottage was exactly as described. Large enough space for everyone. Clean and modern. Beds were comfortable with great views of the lake. Easy self check in/check out. Quite serene with the sound of frogs at night. Included recreational equipment was in good order and a nice perk. 5 minute drive to town. A good value. My kids wanted to stay.

If you plan on our cottage we were short on a proper knife (only a bread knife available) and also no large pots. Ample dishes and cutlery though. Also you may want to bring a few extra bath towels if you are a larger group....only 4 provided.

The security code business needed further emphasis. Make sure people know that they need a code to get into the front gate as well as the cottage, and that the number of one's unit is the first part of the code (one can guess this but it shouldn't be left to guesswork). And having someone readily on hand - at the end of the telephone - would have been much preferable to leaving a message.
