Barcelona’s coastal Sant Marti district, a redeveloped area mixing residential buildings, shopping malls and parks, provides the setting for Hotel Barcelona Princess, set directly on the eastern end of tree-lined Avinguda Diagonal, one of the city’s major thoroughfares, and just a short walk from the CCIB convention centre. This modern hotel occupies an imposing high-rise building with a distinctive blue and orange façade, a 5-minute walk from Museu de Ciencies Naturals de Barcelona, Barcelona’s Natural History Museum, and a 10-minute walk from both the beach and waterfront Parc del Fòrum, a public space which hosts outdoor sports, concerts and festivals. Major sights including the Gothic Quarter, with its quaint narrow streets, boutiques and cafes, the Picasso Museum, home to “one of the most important collections of Picasso’s work in the world” (Rough Guide) and Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece La Sagrada Familia are about a 15-minute drive away, whilst La Rambla, Barcelona’s landmark pedestrianised boulevard takes about 20 minutes to reach by car.
Hotel Barcelona Princess opens to a contemporary-design lobby with funky orange and black chairs, cool lighting and a bar serving drinks and snacks. The hotel restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine and features floor-to-ceiling windows and a colourful mural, and there’s a city-view rooftop terrace with an outdoor infinity pool and a café, plus an adjacent fitness room and sauna.
There’s a minimalist feel to the hotel’s guestrooms, which are decorated in soft neutral tones with sleek wood accents, and include free mini bars, free Wi-Fi and free smartphones, plus TVs. Higher tariff rooms come with city and sea views, whilst some have sitting areas and furnished balconies. Suites offer distinct touches such as an outdoor Jacuzzi and an 8-seater lounge. Room service is available.
