Overview

Nent Hall Country Hotel offers country house accommodation in a picturesque rural setting. Located off a tree-lined road, the hotel occupies an ivy-clad building with an elegant brick façade. It's a short walk from the banks of the River Nent and a 5-minute drive from Alston, which is known for its cobbled streets and 17th-century stone buildings.

The ruins of Penrith Castle, which was built in the 14th century, are approximately 40 minutes away by car, while Ullswater in the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall are around 50 minutes' drive from the hotel.

There's a cosy feel to Nent Hall Country Hotel's interiors, which include a lounge area with plush sofas and antique furnishings. The Coach House Inn serves hearty meals and features a wood-panelled bar and a fireplace, and the Valley View Restaurant is open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. The hotel's peaceful garden is dotted with patio areas and picnic tables.

Standard Four-Poster Rooms are decorated in neutral tones with richly patterned fabrics and ornate bedsteads, and have free Wi-Fi, TVs, DVD players, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Superior Four-Poster Rooms are larger and offer similar furnishings.

Nent Head is a wonderful location which I have passed four times when cycling the Coast to Coast. Perhaps the hardest and most beautiful cycle path across the U K .

Staff were all very nice & helpful. Rooms could do with a little TLC & bar area would benefit from some couches rather than mostly being dining tables. We did enjoy our stay & walking.

A slight shabby chic appearance adds to this warm and friendly hotel. Cosy hotel lounge. Public bar area a little plain but with a cosy fire. A menu to cover all tastes but limited vegetarian choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Staff chatty, friendly and very knowledgable about the local area. A hidden gem!

We enjoyed our break there, and appreciate its an old property but it is very tired and i guess you get what you pay for. Lots to do in the area so would go back for that reason but the room felt musty and the bathroom was clean but very tired and shabby. The meals were good although totally disorganised when it came to getting a table at night despite booking.

Would have been even better if they used the restaurant for evening meal as the pub is too small
