After almost a decade without a hotel opening, San Francisco saw the doors swing open at several new properties in 2017 -- including the Proper Hotel. Situated in a distinctive Flatiron-style building in mid-Market, the hotel is the flagship for the Proper Hospitality brand with properties slated to open in Southern California and Texas. Within its historic walls, the designers made painstaking efforts to maintain the beaux-arts building’s details and filled the restored spaces with hand-selected vintage furnishings and local artwork.
Rooms are outfitted in an urban palette of black, white and gray, offering the choice of king, double or bunk beds. Accommodations include handmade mattresses, Italian linens, free Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers and HDTVs enabled with Google Chromecast. Bathrooms feature brass fixtures, walk-in rainfall showers and kimono robes. Upgraded options offer spacious seating areas, separate sleeping quarters and views of Market Street. Minibars are stocked with healthy snacks and indulgent extras like bottled cocktails and Wildsam Field Guides -- for anything else, guests can log in to the Proper App on in-room tablets to connect directly with the hotel’s concierge.
San Francisco Proper Hotel’s restaurants and bars pay homage to the City by the Bay and its colorful history and spirit of innovation. Social gathering points for the dynamic Mid-Market neighborhood, Villon, Charmaine’s, and La Bande present an array of inspired menus and settings for dining and drinking from morning through night.
