"Great location within walking distance to lots of attractions and restaurants. Room was average. Bed was very comfortable. The TV remote was missing from our room. While searching for it I looked under the bed and besides finding 3 empty water bottles I noticed that it was not very clean! The rest of the room was fine. The remote was replaced very quickly after I called the front desk."

Why We Love This Hotel

  • Next door to the U.S. Mint and Benjamin Franklin's burial place; walkable to Betsy Ross's workshop, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall
  • It's also walkable to City Hall and the local-favorite Reading Terminal Market — one of the oldest indoor farmers' markets in the country
  • Guests can sample traditional Spanish tapas without leaving the Old City at Iron Chef Jose Garces' Amada restaurant (eight minutes walking)

Situated two blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District is a history buff's dream destination: In the neighborhood are the National Constitution Center, the Museum of the American Revolution and the Benjamin Franklin Museum. There's also Elfreth's Alley — Conde Nast Traveler calls it the "one of the prettiest streets" in the Old City — plus loads of restaurants, more than 50 art galleries and high-end boutique shopping available on Market Street.

Inside, the hotel blends elements of its storied environs with a distinctly modern design sensibility: The bright white, open lobby is offset by royal blue wing-back chairs and artwork inspired from the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Guest rooms decorated with oak furnishings and photos of Philly's most famous sites offer views of downtown. They also have modern necessities like flat-screen TVs and Wolfgang Puck coffee, plus marble countertops in the bathrooms.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughters birthday. Did not realize it was not paid for. She had to pay for her own gift which was embarrassing to me

It’s a hotel off the beaten path a bit noisy because the walls are paper thin. I booked the travel zoo package with free parking for a bargain. I did notice how a coffee cup stayed on the floor in the hallway for 24 hours without staff picking it up.

We informed the front desk person at 11p that the bathroom sink was clogged. We then had to go downstairs and switch rooms. When we were downstairs we heard him on the phone talking to someone else who was talking to him about security-he told them the same thing-they have to come downstairs to switch rooms. He gave us another room at which point we had to move all our stuff over. The other room was worse! The stopper in the sink didn’t open! It was permanently closed! No water would pass. I called again and he said he would handle it-he wanted to check another room before giving it to us. I went downstairs only to find the front desk empty-quickly rushed upstairs to find him at my door. Thankfully my kids had not opened it yet. He gave me another key-we moved our stuff for the third time-remember he said he checked it? The water in this room still did not go down-it was very slow and drainage was poor-it was definitely backed up. At this point it was 1am. I gave up and we stayed in this room :(

Great location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We went on a peak weekend, so price was a bit higher than normal, but still a great value for the money!
Other Comments
Our room was a bit small, but we stayed on a higher floor, so we were told the room was a bit smaller. We also had a tile loose in the bathroom. However, it was a great stay and would 100% stay there again!
