Absolutely beautiful location

Would not recommend for the elderly or family's with prams and/or small kids - lots of stairs and not easy to get around. Whilst the rooms were lovely and big, there was no table either in the room or on the balcony. Biggest disappointment was the restaurant - has the ambience of a club bistro and the food was very disappointing.

It was certainly quiet.
Other Comments
While the accommodation and surrounds were quite nice we were particularly disappointed with the dinner at their restaurant. On booking I asked for a window table to enjoy the view - I did not realise you have to ask for a specific area of the restaurant if you want a quieter dining experience. Also the window table we were given looked straight on to the family outside, minimal chance to enjoy the view. The food service was slow and the food was not good, in fact my partner sent his meal back. This was an important celebration for us and it was tainted by the poor dining experience (they did not charge us for the meal, but the point for us is the marred celebration).

Staff were extremely accommodating. Unfortunately I asked to move rooms as we had a young and very noisy family directly above our room. They then moved us to the Lodge Suite which far exceeded our expectations.

Service could seriously do with improvement. The breakfast staff were very cheery and helpful but everyone else including reception staff were very passive. Our room-service tray sat outside our room for the full two days. Also the pool area is not very welcoming - nice pool but really a very small area to lounge beside the pool and the outdoor furniture is very basic - a couple of wooden sun-beds without cushions and a couple of bean bags. The tennis courts looked in good condition.

They got the generator working and the breakfast in the restaurant on the Sunday morning was lovely.
Other Comments
The room did not appear to be a superior room and had very squeaky floor boards. Whilst it is not there fault that there was a power black out they should have been better prepared and even with the power out it does not take a lot to make a tossed salad to go with the meal and maybe some fruit salad as dessert. The service in the restaurant was very poor even thought the wait person was trying her best it was clear that she felt very overwhelmed- there was not enough wait people to service the number of customers.
The receptionist at check out was very surly.

The only thing I would suggest is we had a black out while we were there and we noticed that the emergency lighting wasn't working. Need to get that looked at as it could be a liability happening. Also the furniture around the pool needs to be replaced. Some of the chairs were broken

Peaceful being so close to City
Other Comments
While we were staying at the hotel we had a storm and the power went of this was not a problem as there is nothing the hotel can do about this but there was no effort to clear the leaf debris from around the hotel especially on the decking are it was a mess it would not have taken someone 30 mins to walk round with a broom to clear it up. There was chairs up turned and left as they were the staff were brilliant but a definite lack of management.

The dining staff in the evenings need training. We had a two course dinner which took over two hours, because of the bad service. Our plates were finished for 20minutes before being removed....plus possum poo on the stairs for over two days & not been cleaned.

We think it was a bit hard to drag our luggage up the two flights of stairs to our room, but there was a man there that helped us with it . But that's the only thing that was a problem. We would have had a spa experience, but thought it was very expensive.

Dining area is a little jaded - and somewhat old fashioned - a fresh paint job would lift the atmosphere and also the lighting is very sombre but overall we had a very pleasant experience during our stay.
